LOL Goan!
Cookery book wise, Alex, I tend to stay away from "celebrity" chefs and opt for ones with lots of nice pictures0 -
I'm just terrible at meeting people I don't know. I'm no good at small talk.
Goan - one of my best friends is from Stourbridge so I'm sure I can hazard a guess at what you're saying0 -
Argh, does anyone here know anything about cookery books? I want to get one for a friend for her birthday - she can't bear the word "foody" but she completely is one and loves food, loves trying new recipes etc. I have a shortlist, mainly Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and various Italian ones, as I know that's what she likes but I can't decide!
Does she have the Italian book ''The Silver Spoon''? Its sort of the iconic Italian book...its not ust Italian food, its got scones in there, but its their equivalent to say, Prue Leith's book...most Italian women get it as a wedding present. Its good. But no pictures. Its a good bok now. I can't remember now if mine is in Italian or English, bu the english translation has been arund for a good few years now
I'd really like the Humming Bird bakery book ATM.0 -

I can't do small talk for the life of me, I'm completely tactless and just ask ridiculous questions.
If you understand Stourbridge that's okay. Have you been there? Great charity shops and a nice Wetherspoons (ain't I classy?)
Cookery books, tricky. My "foodie" pal swears by Rick Stein and I must admit any of the creations taken from the books are pretty wonderful. Hugh's always a good one and I know Delia has her critics but her books are easy to follow and classic.0 -
I love the hummingbird bakery book Lost, one of my favourites0

She doesn't, and I'm definitely considering it so thanks for the recommendationIt's hard just going from Amazon reviews!
I want that tooBut I'm not so keen on just baking cupcakes so not sure whether to bother with it just now. Think I'd rather spend my money on the Sophie Dahl book.

Afternoon / Evening all
Been awol - just busy with everday things and outfit wise, sunday -jeans, monday - the same a saturday and today jeans again but with a pale blue Monsoon mac out of the CS - although hubby just pointed out a small hole in shoulder - but I'm not too bothered, paid £4 but I do get bored of clothes easily.
Wardrobe wise - mine is only a double door but with two hanging rails top and bottom, wicker baskets along the shelf at the top full of accessories and necklaces etc on the inside of the doors on hooks.
Pirate - I managed to get your necklace so PM me your address and I will pop it on the post- hopefully tomorrow0 -

I have serious stacks of cook books, crazy for a woman who has to eat as litle as I do. But I cook a lot and sometimes, this is pathetic, sometimes when I'm really feeling food but can't calorie-spare, I get out some cook books and ''read a meal'' for myself. It works for me, dh says he doesn't see how I can resist cooking after that.
I think, for a real foody with an interest in Italian food the Silver Spoon is a bit of a must have, but as I say, no pictures, so a little less luxury than it might seem, but loads of substance. I also tend to buy regional italian books when in italy. I have a sicilian book that is ''supper'' about once a week in read, but mainly because I can't get the ingredients here for the things I want to cook!0 -
Lost- omg are we the same person r.e. the cook books?! LOL I have quite the collection and love pawing through them just for...idk, visual feeding?!0
