If you go out of the country for 10 days do you have to notify the council do they stop your HB?

You do not need to notify the council as far as I know (assuming you are continuing to pay rent whilst away). You may have to notify your benefits office if you are receiving other benefits though.0

Be careful if you are on one of the "passport" benefits (Income Support, Income based Jobseekers). These benefits may cease if you leave the country for that period, and you would need to make a new claim for HB based on your income in the period it was not being paid (possibly nothing, of course, which you'd have to try to "prove").
So definitely contact your HB office regarding this - don't just leave it, or you may find you've committed fraud without meaning to...0 -
I would always contact the office as we have a lot of cases where post comes back as Address Gone Away and we suspend the claim only to find that the customer has been on holiday.
As most councils have e-mail addresses, you can just e-mail them to make them awareI currently manage a Housing Benefit service and have been working in Housing / council tax benefit (as was) since 2001.

Perhaps you would like to have to give up your well paid job (as i did) to look after your wife becoming disabled.
Then, after giving up your working and social life spend all your time looking after someone.
I had a very good job in the City and probably paid more tax in a week than most workers pay in a month.
What exactly are "people like me"?
to add, My children BOTH work and pay tax. The ammount of tax they pay between would more than cover my HB.0 -

So what?
You're still expecting the little tax payer to keep a roof over your head, aren't you?
Most people who work cannot afford a trip to Butlins, never mind Vegas !!!!!! :rotfl:Be happy, it's the greatest wealth

My kids pay more in tax each week than my HB claim.
They can also afford to go on foreign holidays as can all my friends.
Perhaps you need a new job welsh....
better still, post your SOA on here and we can help you manage your finances a bit better0 -
My finances are fine thank you v much.
Besides, we're off to Vegas in a couple of years, perhaps you'd be kind enough to recommend me a hotel.
