Does anyone know about returning to full time education as a mature student (with children). I need to know whether I can afford to give up my job and go 'back to school' for a year, maybe two.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

I think you get loans and stuff and an award for having children too...best bet is to speak to one of the uni financial guys or the student union peeps (as in the NUS rather than the uni specific ones)...
Evening all

Suzy,
Anyone in finance at either the Students Union or the Uni should be able to help you. I expect you will be able to get a Career Development Loan. Don't know what is available for the kids.
If you go and see someone teaching on the course I think it also counts in your favour. That was the impression I got.

@ Elfen - I know the feeling. I woke up this morning and for a few seconds, thought I was in my grandparents' spare room. Then I remembered I was 300 miles away. I miss my family and James all the time. I've got my housemates (though they drive me insane) but it's not the same. I just want to go home but I don't even know where home is anymore.

Thanks Bex and Butti. I haven't got a Uni in mind yet - just need to know whether it's a dream worth persuing ie. can afford it, before doing anything else. Might just google a bit. I'm on my own, so pay for everything - rent, bills, food etc and would have no money coming in if I did a full time course.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
