nokia 6230 memory card problems

I have bought a 1 gig memory card and when i put it in my phone it comes up with needs formating and i click ok to format and it just comes up with ok and then needs formating can any1 help

unless it was working and has now stopped, some of the earlier s/w versions of 6230 had problems with large mem cards so it may need s/w upgrade (about £10)
assuming the card isnt faulty? have you tried formatting on the pc with a card reader

I had an 6230 and bought a Kingston 1GB MMC plus card for it from ebuyer.

In the customer reviews some one had kindly mentioned which firmware versions
worked with the 1GB card and gave the key combo to display the firmware details.

I'll give ebuyer a look over to see if i can find it but it maybe worth googling
for it.
