Traded car, crashed this evening
I wonder if anyone knows what happens in this situation, I have arranged a trade in on my car due to change over on monday 1st March due to new reg coming out, this evening on my way to work a lorry reversed into my car damaging the bonnet quite badly, what will happen with the trade in now ?

Well clearly the trade-in arrangement is going to have to be re-negotiated. Either they take your car but take the damage into account when assessing a new value for it or they could take the trade-in off the table and ask you for the full amount owing.
You really need to speak to the dealer asap to see what your options are.0 -
Are you claiming on the lorry divers insurance?0
-
Surely insurance just fixes the damage and the trade goes as normal??0

Yes will be claiming on the lorry drivers insurance, but will this affect the value of my car, and the time it takes for my car to be repaired or would the garage just take my car as it is and I get my new car same day as pre arranged, and they deal with the repairs?0

Ask the lorrydriver for cash and you wont take it further as your are trading it in on the 1st. Otherwise you will go thru his insurance, which could delay you getting the bel;oved car on the 1st day pof the new reg and sue him for further costs lol0

Agree with Harveybobbles, in many cases the driver wont want to go through insurance, if the damage is cosmetic it may be an easy fix.......or not!'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Most damage to bonnets distorts the frame and makes them uneconomical to repair, resulting in the need for a new bonnet and painting. Some bonnets for cars can be stupidly expensive so call around for the price of a new bonnet and factor in £250 to paint and fit it.The man without a signature.0

Best bet imo would be to claim directly off the lorry drivers insurance/company.
Phone the dealer tomorrow and tell them, ask them to put it through their body shop for immediate repair and give you all the paperwork and send it off and ask for reimbursement.
You could go elsewhere to get the repair done but in interests of avoiding any haggling on trade in value etc I would let them repair it that way there is no dispute about the quality or value.
You really should tell your insurer about the incident too but avoid making a claim as if your car ended up a cat c or d write off then the trade in value would fall.0 -
is this a "trade in" under the scrappage scheme....if so....the dealer won't give a hoot even if you tow it to the garageI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0
