Homecall Pipex or Normal Pipex?

Both are offered by Pipex but homecall Pipex does 8mb speed with uncapped download for £29.99 including line rental vs Pipex max 8mb speed uncapped download for £27.49 excluding bt line rental.

Anyone know why if its possible to get pipex max at the homecall price without any involvement from homecall - really want to avoid having anything to do with homecall if possible...

    Hello,

I started the origianl thread and am happy to document what happened. Not sure about the skilled writer part tho'!

This is what happened to me (a Pipex punter of over 4 years):

    - I received a call 4 or 5 weeks ago by "Pipex Homecall" offering a free upgrade to MaxADSL if I transferred my phone line and call provision to them. I was spun some yarn about recognition of long standing customers and as a reward I was eligible for the free upgrade. I was told this would happen within the "next few days"

    - I signed up for the 'phone transfer and waited for the contract to arrive which it duly did a few days later. However, no indication of the broadband deal within the contract or documentation provided - just the phone details.

    - After about a week I mailed Pipex three times overe several days to try to get confirmation but did not get a reply to any of the e-mails.

    - Next I called Homecall and was given the same story by a "secretary" - the guy who gave me his name an number during the initial correspondence was not contactable (apparently). My "upgrade" would happen within the next day or two.

    - I started to become suspicious and mailed Homecall to seek clarification. After a few days they replied with an unintelligible e-mail that got my name wrong and did not really address my question in any coherent way.

    - I mailed back with a formal complaint and asked them how and when they intended to fulfill their initial promise. They replied a couple of days later stating that their operator must have been confused as no such deals were available. In the interim I had terminated my usual supplier of many years to pitch in with these plonkers. Clearly they lied to me to gain my business.

    - Pipex have not commented at all, despite repeated mails - they appear equally incompetent or perhaps similarly dishonest?

    - I will be cancelling with Homecall this weekend unless they (Pipex/Homecall/Pipecall/HomePipe/Drainpipe????) fulfil their promises. I will also give serious consideration to transferring to ZEN or similar.

I have previously been happy with Pipex (fortunately I have not needed CS) but this has now been soured by their apparent inability to control a sister company that is flouting the law. I'm a reasonable person but this scam has to be exposed and punished as far as I'm concerned. Their claim that it was a "mistake" is clearly BS - given that they have entered into a verbal (legal) contract with me, they are obliged to fulfil it.

I had exactly the same experience. I have sent a fax, letter and email to Pipex Homecall cancelling the telephone contract as the extra broadband speed (on my existing Pipex broadband account) did not happen and Pipex Homecall blamed Pipex broadband and vice versa (although they are part of the same company/group). There was clearly a misrepresentation which was an inducement to enter a contract - clearly not lawful.

I will now move to cancel the Pipex broadband service if they do not move me to the Pipex Max with anytime calls package.

I Had the same thing. Pipex Homecall says one thing and Pipex Broadband say another. They both lie to you to get your custom.

 AVOID PIPEX AT ALL COSTS:mad:

Have a look at my posts re homecall -you will read more of the same.terrible company
  • Don't touch Pipex at all. There's more than enough people who are not happy with them. I was with f2s as my ISP, and Pipex bought them recently and everything's been downhill since then. Speed throttling, port-blocking, p2p speed caps, name it and they have it. Going to migrate very soon!
  • Pipex used to be brill but they've gone downhill rapidly - I wouldn't touch them now. I'm looking around for an alternative supplier right now.

And those appalling ads - yuk!
  • pipex homecall is NOT NOT NOT the same as pipex.

pipex have taken over homecall who i've been with for 2 yrs now with absolutely no complaints.

I have phoned up to upgrade to the new (pipex) homecall package (which for info of the OP INCLUDES free unlimited landline calls any time of day). In under 2 weeks I have had my broadband upgraded to 8mb (this actually took place in under a week) and also received my line rental cancellation confirmation from BT in under a week.

Basically I get up to 8mb unltd broadband, line rental and free unltd uk calls for £29.99pcm on a 12 mon contract - and I didn't have to wait. Can't complain at that amd I would be surprised if there are any better offers out there except (the dodgy & slow) talktalk.

might be worth mentioning that Pipex cap P2P downloads to a snails pace, worth considering if you wanna download stuff - why else would you want 8mb??? Pipex basically are CRAP, can't wiat for my year's contract to finish!
