Not everyone with a blue badge can legally drive.
Exactly! And according to direct.gov I would be able to get one. Its our local council that has added the passenger bit. Going to try and talk to someone higher up but not sure where it will get me.

If your DLA claim gets rejected, can you just get another application form, get help with CAB filling it in and resend it, or do you have to call them and ask them to re-assess the old application?0

I was accepted first time around, which I found surprising because I heard that most people get refused first time around.

I think the reply letters are automated which is why they read so strangely.
I was one of the lucky people who did the forms by myself and was accepted on first application, however I still find many of the statements on the reasons letter do not seem to be about me and some are arguably false.
On renewal, I had my award increased from LRM, MRC to HRM, HRC and the letter that told me this had lots of statements saying things like "you are unable to walk x metres" and various other things that I certainly never said.
I think this happens because all disabilities are different, but they need to translate each applicants needs into their defined phrases. So a long explanation about varying mobility difficulties arising from a chronic illness becomes "you are unable to walk x metres".
I'm sure they do read the forms, although this doesn't mean the wrong decision won't sometimes be made. I think all anyone can do is give as much accurate information as possible on the form and then keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.
Good luck to anyone currently applying or appealing!0
