lynzpower - yes,we always do jackets on the barbie - another favourite of ours is salmon (wrap in foil with a bit of dill on it) - could just eat it now. Where is this beach hut, if you don't mind me asking, and is it for hire?0

Slap a steak on the BBQ, split a ciabatta and toast that both sides in the BBQ, when the ciabatta's done rub it inside with a clove of garlic and drizzle some olive oil on. Spread with a little mayo and add the steak as a filling. Serve with boiled and buttered new potatoes. (One BBQ, one pan)
Take a jar of Lloyd Grossman tomato and chilli pasta sauce (ok it's a cheat
), cook some new potatoes and before they're done sling in some green beans. Pan fry a couple of hammered out chicken breasts in a touch of olive oil and when they're browned pour the sauce over them and give them a few minutes to cook through. Pile the new pots and beans on plates and put the chicken on top then pour the remaining sauce over. (2 pans)
Cook some tagliattelli, drain and stir in some double , torn up smoked salmon and black pepper. Stir over a low heat until the cream is hot and the salmon is jurning opaque. (1 pan)
.... you weren't looking for low fat ideas were you?
Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Does your beach hut have a proper address - if so could you order a Teco delivery mid-week. I know they will deliver to holiday flats/chalets etc, as long as you can provide them with an identifiable address. That way you could order and pay before you go for fresh fish/meat, dairy and veggies (and extra wine) to be delivered mid-week.0

You could take beanfeast style soya mince - you get bolognaise and other styles, already flavoured. Keeps well and doesn't take up much room. Out of a fridge, some veg (eg potatos, carrots, turnip, onion, leeks) will keep fine for a week - although thats all 'hot' stuff. On the bbq, for a pudding cook bananas on their skins till they are blackened. Maybe serve with tinned cream or dream topping type stuff? I would notmally serve with ice cream, but no freezer.0

Sorry, Its not for hire, its not far from Christchurch in Dorset, its owned by OHs aunt & uncle & shared out for weeks. However if you want to buy yourself one they are 250k :rotfl::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

eeeeek!Wonder hoe long it'll take me to save that up in 2 pound coins?! Are you sure you don't want a cook for your stay there - i'll come and do you a week for free???!!!!0 -
How about smuggling your slow cooker in the car for the holiday?
I always try to take mine without my oh seeing lol
That way you'll probably only need the ring to brown meat etc.
You could even use it to cook a chicken in and use the 2 rings for veg?
A steamer is a good idea to take too? so you can do lots of veg on one ring?
Hope you have a super time

No one has yet mentioned corned beef hash - I suppose it's too obvious but it's a great dish as far as I am concerned!
On similar lines, salmon fishcakes (tin of salmon/tuna, bag of potatoes of course) ideally with parsley sauce - take a pot of supermarket parsley - but obviously you would need milk for sauce, might overload fridge...
Salad nicoise also a possibility - the beans should keep fresh for a day or two out of the fridge if necessary.
Ratatouille ingredients keep quite well, even out of the fridge, for a few days - good with rice, of course, or chops if you have the fridge room, and also scrambled egg.
Supermarket packets of ravioli/tortellini also very good with fresh tomato sauce. Take some Parmesan, of course.
Have a wonderful time!0
