Paypal help!!!

Hi, I'm new here and I need some advice!!!

I sold a mobile phone on ebay for £344. I received the payment through paypal and posted the phone. I withdrew the £344 to my bank account. A few days later I checked my paypal to find is was showing -£340. After asking the question I found out the payment I received was unauthorised, so paypal took the money from me and returned it to the cardholder. So I am now 1 phone and £344 down. I tried and tried and tried to liase with paypal but they told me I didn't follow all seller protection rules so it was my fault! I refused to pay up, but after a month or so I was receiveing phone calls and letters from a collections company to collect the money from me to take my banance up to £0. With court action threatened against me I paid up, but now I am angry that I have been made the criminal but I lost out. What can I do to make paypal take responsibility for the loss and give me my money?

So was the payment made from fraudelant use of a credit card? If so all you need is proof of posting to defend against this. If you havent at least got this you are liable and unprotected.

On an item of that price you needed online proof of delivery with a signature, which i'm guessing you didn't do. So your only hope is if you have proof of posting

Like cyberbob says a claim for fraudulent use of a card is easy to defend with paypal if you have proof of posting.

Did you send the phone to the ebay/paypal registered address?
Or maybe one supplied direct by the buyer?
