    Well I've finally had my Mr A delivery after it being cancelled on monday. I manage to eat some things in the freezer so some good did come out of it being delayed. I made some stupid mistakes with my order i.e. not checking the pack size. Doh! Might have to go back to Mr S next time :) So now just about half way through my budget but not too worried as I have plenty in now. Famous last words :)

    Spent £110 on Monday but it should have been much more as that included monthly staples and most of the meat for the month plus the weekly fruit/veg/milk/bread run!

    Would have had a NSD but needed to buy a new car seat for LO and then post a letter SD.
    I aim to have at least 10 NSD this month!

    Made the spicy bean & sweet potato stew from the recipe index. Was delish!! Thanks angelnikki for the recipe :beer:
    I have a quick question. I have a tin of 3 bean salad. It has cannellini, flageolet and adzuki beans in it. Can I use this in my next stew, or is there something else I can do with it??

    Also had a small spend on Mon for the sweet potato & turnip (couldn't get a butternut!) So popping in to update my sig. Might pop to Aldi 2mo for some fruit & veg. Don't normally get the chance due to the hours I work, but having a day off 2mo so I'll venture out in to the freezing cold!! :p

    Big pot of bolognaise type stuff in the SC tonight, so who knows what I'll make with it when it's ready!

    Only just had chance to get back to the challenge! Had a week in Germany and my family didn't spend while I was away-I have a house full of food after a couple of really good topups last week and a lot of bargains from Tesco. One of these was the frozen value beef lasagne at just 21p!!!
    Got 7 of those-left a couple for the next shopper as I guessed I would run out of freezer space. Got lots of really cheap bread inc 5 half loaves of kingsmill I think it was at 9p per loaf and others like a french stick for I think 4p. I got some curry sauce for 4p per tin so last night I was tired and bought a couple of bags of chips etc but used the 4p curry on it which saved about £2.40 if Id bought 2 tubs of curry sauce!
    Got some bargains in Lidl also-do look at price per kilo of deli items such as smoked mackerel. Waitrose charge about 11.99 per kilo and I think Lidl was 6.99 per kilo with Coop doing it for I think 8.99 per kilo. What a huge variation. So now I'm shopping in Tesco on a Friday evening about 8pm when its being marked down and my dd is at her dance class-it's somewhere to dawdle for an hour and helps to warrant the petrol for the 12 mile trip to the dance class. They also had sixpinters of milk in Tesco for 99p it was the 0.75% fat one. 2 fridges which are rather full and a freezer where the lid just shuts! This Friday I'm popping in a friends instead-Tesco is temptation but I've run out of space rather than money-now that is such a great feeling! All I need is some petrol now for this week. March spend so far is £39.25.
    Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

    :hello: I'm going to take part in my first ever grocery challenge this month. I have no idea how much I normally spend on groceries a month so I'll pick a random figure! It's a 5-week pay month for me this month :(. The budget is just for me but my boyfriend tends to visit a couple of times a week...thankfully he returns the favour so it just about evens out ;). So I'm going for £110 this month and see how I go!

    Hiya all

    Ok, time to get organised in March! We have so much food in the house it is getting silly thanks to having done 2 orders from Approved foods quite recently and then being tempted by money off vouchers in shops! £10 off £50 at sainsburys or free online delivery. I tend to get veg boxes delivered every other week or so.

    I went over budget quite a lot last month and this month want to improve things a bit and use up some of our stash!

    Please can I join in? My budget for March is £220.00.

    This includes food for 3 adults, 1 child aged 3 and 2 cats. It also includes any toiletries (which I am trying not to buy so only essentials) and mums magazines which are about £3.00 a week (we have a set up where she pays me so much a month for bills and food).

    Good luck everyone :)

    Just having a think about what I need to buy each week.

    Milk - 8 x 2l = £8.00
    Bread x 4 = £4
    Mums mags = £3
    Ready meals for mum = £2
    Cat food and litter = £5
    Butter = £1
    Cheese = £2
    Cake = £2
    Fruit and Veg = £13
    Sweets for mum £1
    choc/bics = £2
    Crisps = £1
    Meat = £3
    Veggie = £2
    Eggs = £1

    Total £50.00 - it soon mounts up doesn't it!

    When I have shopped this week, I am going to see how it fits with the above. I don't need to buy any choc/crisps as we have a stash of those. Am planning to make a choc cake today and have a fruit cake left which I bought last week so maybe only a pound needed on cake to top this up. We have 2 blocks of cheese in so don't need that and some spare tins of cat food although I will need to buy biscuits for them and litter. May need to buy some tins - will have to check but they don't cost much - maybe beans and soup so £1.00. I am going to try to spend £40.00 this week max which would get me off to a good start.

  • Good morning everyone,

    well I have lamb mince defrosting for tonights dinner. Making a mini shepherds pie. Will serve with fresh veg.
    Now have room to move some of the food in freezer. Had so much stuff packed in it that it was practically solid before and a lot had been there a while and really needed eaten up. So hopefully I will eat my way through quite a bit of it in the next few weeks.
    Well off to fill flask with hm soup for packed lunch.
    Hope you all have a good day.

    Just wanted to say good luck to everyone for this month. We are not participating this time as we are doing a family storecupboard challenge for the whole of Lent, with £100 in the kitty for anything we run out of and fresh fruit/veg. Whatever is left is going into the church collection on Easter Sunday, so I want there to be some left!! We'll be back in April.
    December GC: £350
