Onetel & Talktalk - felt like a rant !

I am with Onetel and I pay £24 a month for Broadband. I have 3 email addresses one of which is for my self employed buisness. I also have BT Together option one costing about £20 a month. Obviously if I switch to TalkTalks offer I can reduce my bills from about £45 down to £22 - a great saving and one I want. Just one snag.

After 4 hours (yes 4 hours) on the phone ot TalkTalk and Onetel and throwing in the towel and emailing for about the 50th time I have found that if I switch from Onetel (owned by TalkTalk) to TalkTalk(obviously owned by TalkTalk!) I lose my email addresses. This infuriates me as Onetel and TalkTalk are the same company now. Why should I lose my email addresses. I was lucky to get a google email address from a kind person on this board a while ago but I really did not want ot go through the whole hassle of telling everyone my new address and also changing my website and stationary etc at additional cost plus if I forget ot tell someone I will not hear from them.

Why can I not keep my email address if I remain with the same company? TalkTalk Customer Services have not responded to this email - which doesnt really bode well for the whole service thing anyway- and I am frustrated.

I am heading into school holidays so time will be dreadfully short for 7 weeks and I do not see time available to undertake a switch to another company and reestablish new email addresses really. Other people seem to be able ot do tecky things in about 1 hour - me it takes 10 hours (my attempt to make labels for my CD's was a disaster!).

so theres my rant - TalkTalk should TalkTalk to Onetel and do something - they do of course want to make it frustrating so I dont shift and therefore overspend on my telecommunication bills!

I phoned Onetel and asked for my Mac Code so I could transfer my provider. They called me back and offered me 2mb broadband and all my calls 24/7 for £20. I am currently paying £30!
E mail address. I suggest you buy a domain name 1&1 are good. They cost about £10 for two years. You the use that e mail address and divert to your provider e mail, so it does not matter who you get you broadband from your e mail address will never change!

Onetel have gone down the pan a bit lately. The last two support e-mails, one concerning broadband, have failed to get a reply. They used to be much better. The 'Indian' call centre is not great either.

Generally, I'm still not convinced either about the broadband with phone packages: I like the ability to be able to route the expensive calls (0870, mobile) to the various low cost providers. I'm not sure whether these new offerings (unlike having a BT line) allow you to do this.

Competition seems to be going backwards in this regard.

Onetel were good once upon a time: cheap, innovative; then they were bought out, first by Centrica (British Gas) and now CPW.... and have lost their way. I've been with them for years... looking to move on now.
