That is very helpful, thank you so much. Can I ask about the prize choice raw mince, is that a brand of dog food? I've never heard of it before, and being veggie, don't have much experience of buying human mince either!

LOL, I'm veggie myself so was in much the same predicament. I wanted to mix a bit of wet food with dry because they're not fond of dry on it's own, but wanted to know exactly what they're eating, but being veggie could't bring myself to go down the root of feeding raw, so was recommended the prize choice stuff. I actually use the free flow mince (you can get 400g blocks of mince, or bags of free flow stuff), it comes in 2kg bags for about £4 in pets at home, stick it in the freezer and defrost a bit a day as needed, I just put a few spoon fulls in with the dry and a bit of warm water to release the smell. The dogs love it and I know exactly what they're eating this way.

Thank you I'll see how she does on the dry stuff, we got the Wainwrights, and then decide wher to go with it.

She is - and so funny with her wee tongue hanging out when she's sleeping.
she is a little poppet! Why was she being got rid of? she looks like a very settled, easy little dog!

She is very settled already, they were bored I think. But I wonder because I think that maybe she doesn't like other dogs, she whimpers and is desperate to get to other dogs, she bounded from the front to tha back of the car earlier (we were parked) to whine at a wee Llasa Apso she was obviously desperate to get to. At my sisters she went for her male 5 year old Staffie who weighs about 20kg! (and is the softest daftest big dog ever) luckily, he saw her for what she is, gave her a wee dunt on the backside and sent her packing, but she's got small dog syndrome, and decided she still wanted to stick up for herself. If it wasn't potentially dangerous it would be funny. I am going to look for some sort of assertiveness training for me because I need to be able to be confident that when I tell her no she will stop, I don't want to spend her life avoiding other dogs. Hopefully we can train her out of it.

Yes, do sort it as it can make your life miserable if you have a nervous aggressive dog. My poor sis has had her rescue for 8 years with this problem, despite all the care and training - do something now to sort it.

    Wish I'd seen that!
Mutt's a bit the same, gets the whole fight or flight thing going and doesn't know whether to get in there or scarper, generally leading to some very odd looking behaviour all round.
Could well be poor socialisation around other dogs when she was a pup - you could maybe think about going along to dog training classes just to get her used to being around other dogs in a calm and controlled environment.

Mine plays silly sods around other dogs and nips if she gets the chance, but the couple of times a dog's had a go at her she hasn't got a clue how to defend herself. Stupid hound that will potentially start a fight because she has no doggy manners at all but then might get hurt coz she then turns to instant jelly.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Thanks, as I said it was funny, but I was a bit worried. My sister though, who is a tiny wee size six scrap of a thing, jumped right in, and laughed her head off, she has seen it all before.

What do you do? Are you planning on doing some sort of classes or training?
