It appears this PC only has a CD/DVD-Reader, therefore you will not be able to write CDs or DVDs.

To respecify with a CD Writer and DVD Reader (in one drive) is an extra £17.64

To respecify with a CD and DVD Writer (in one drive) is an extra £58.76. This is quite expensive, so if you need this option, you would be best advised to buy as you have specified and purchase a DVD writer for half this price from elsewhere online and fit it or get someone to do it for you.

Otherwise, this is a very basic spec PC for a very low price. It should be adequate for the uses you described.

Nice value kit, suitable for sis but not for BiL.

    1. It says DVD Rom, not 100% on this but shouldn't it be DVD R/W? It looks like you cannoy burn with this drive.

    2. Also, the process of d/loading/ripping dvds is a slow process and as a the pc listed only has 256mb it will take ages to do the final burn. ie i rip dvds and it takes approx an hour with a 1gb ram, so with 256mb it's going to take an age!!

However, memory is cheap enough, i picked mine up for £20 and it's a case of just clipping in the new memory.

Also the monitor is a crt and not flat screen. Does not effect the use of the pc, but for a few quid more you could get a better system and a monitor that does not take up alot of space.

They would probably be better off getting more memory too as he wants to download and write DVD's.
The graphics share the memory too.
The processor sounds like the best bit of it.
