Try to cut a long story short ,have a ground floor flat (rented) great I thought as have bad arthritis....have been here over a year now,but didnt realise it was also very near where all the local prostitues hang out !the bedrooms are also facing the street and I asked the managing agent if they could put in secondary glazing ,they agreed ....3 months ago am still waiting, the reason is the prostitutes make so much noise in the middle of the night they wake me and my daughter up ( she works)
Then to my amazment last night I saw one of the "noisiest" girls leaving my neighbours flat !I notify the police and inform the council of these women ,who are all well known, and he brings them into the building!,my friend said there is nothing that I can do ,as its in the privacy of his home etc............advice please ?
And I could move yes ,but I love this place as have a small dog and there is a patio where he can just pop out ,and the thought of moving after the traumatic past few years is making me feel ill ....

The problem with prostitution is that the police know they can never erradicate it, they actually prefer to keep it to certain areas so they can closely monitor it.
You could perhaps speak to a few local residents and see if others are as fed up as you. if so you could put together a list of your names and send it to your local council, its always better to have a few people behind a voice.
I'm sorry to hear of your situation. The only other alternative is moving but as you have already said, you want to settle now and have some peace and quiet.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0 -
Hi, this is a horrible situation to be in. We have had similar problems in the area where I live and the advice we were given is to ring up and report the problem every single time it happens to the police. This shows up in their statistics - enough calls and they should start to do something about it. We had a local neighbourhood group who worked together to do this and although the problem has not gone away entirely it is much better than it was before. Might also be worth finding out if you have a local policing team - I can't remember what this initiative is called but I know our neighbourhood policing team has regular meetings where they ask local residents to prioritise the focus for the coming period. If this happens in your area you could ask for the prostitution to be tackled. Good luck!0

Do you have a local newspaper? They might be interested in the story too. Or your local MP/councillor - they might be very interested, given there's an election looming and it might get them some brownie points with the locals0

Ring the police - speak to the local councillors too.
Speak to the nicer neighbours about a home watch scheme. Find out where your local one is and go along - the top police people locally are there as are councillors so it's a great place to mention it. Our police station also has sessions where yoy can go along.
get a CCTV camera and stream it live on to the internet for "prossie watch"
Start keeping a diary of incidents.0 -
poppysarah - that's quite ignorant.
I have friends who work closely with many unfortunate women in these circumstances, you've just communicated that you have a great misunderstanding of people who find themselves in this situation.
Our empathy not mockery is needed.I can take no responsibility for the use of any free comments given, any actions taken are the sole decision of the individual in question after consideration of my free comments.
That also means I cannot share in any profits from any decisions made!;)0 -
Ha ha! PC brigade are out, i found Poppy's 'prossy watch' quite funny.
Poor prossy's, what about the poor OP?!
But, if you are that offended by the comment 'prossy' (which btw i can think of much harsher names!) what should we be reffering to them by?0 -
I have friends who work closely with many unfortunate women in these circumstances, .
I have NO sympathy towards any antisocial behaviour that impacts on ordinary people.
I do not care why they work the streets only that they shouldn't do it in areas that drives people mad.
Prostitutes who work in residential areas are responsible for innocent women being harrased in the street as they go out, as well as the noise and dirty condoms and often drug paraphenalia they leave about.
No one should have to put up with noise and hassle from prostitutes.0 -

Apart from the prossy comment, your post contained useful advice. I can only assume it was the prossy comment that did it.
PS How many times can i fit 'prossy' into my post?0 -

I was on my way home from work yesterday, the drive takes me through a well known series of streets for prositution (or through one of the streets anyway). Standing OUTSIDE OF A SCHOOL looking for business was a prostitute, there was another about 30m up the road.
We all feel sorry for other peoples circumstances but there are harsh realities too. They chose to do the drugs that eventually led them to prostitution (in alot of cases). The only ones i feel sorry for are those that are sold/bought/kidnapped at young ages to become prostitutes, there are many of them that did have a choice at one time and instead of doing what the rest of us did, they said yes and got horribly addicted to life ruining drugs.MFW - <£90kAll other debts cleared thanks to the knowledge gained from this wonderful website and its users!0
