Can you help a nervous first time ebayer?

I've bought a blow-up swimming pool and it's too big for my garden (I ordered an 8ft and they sent a 12ft as they were out of stock). I know I could send it back, but I see on ebay the same are selling for more than I paid - soooo, I've got to do it. I'm a bit scared so any advice please?
I've got the same photo as is on the box and the correct text. How many days should I put in on for - as it's so hot now would 24 hour be good? Will no feedback/history be a problem for me? What delivery company is reliable and good value?
I can except paypal, (I signed up over the weekend).

Oh, I feel like a teenager on my first date :o But I've got lots of bits and pieces so I've just GOT to make a start.
Thanks

You really ought to get some feedback... I'd say at least 10... before you think about selling anything. You won't get many bidders otherwise.

But summer will be over - and also I don't have anything I want to buy? Is there away around it? The same pools are selling for between £50 - £70 + postage - is no history really going to stop didders. If I put a reserve, to ensure I don't accept less than I paid, will it cost me much?

Is it pickup only, with cash on collection? If it is, then your 0 feedback rating may not matter too much.

Unfortunately though, if you're intending to post it, then your lack of feedback may well result in a low selling price. Could you consider putting an ad in your local paper?
  • Do what the scammers do and buy some ebooks - cost next to nothing and you get same day feedback. OR - do it the normal way and buy cd's/dvds/books you've always wanted. Minimal cost and you get some benefit along the way. Then use a one or three day listing with as much info as possible - spell and grammer checked! - and with a returns policy.

Another idea - post it on Gumtree. Its free and local so you wouldn't need to worry about mailing a large item......

I don't think either would work well, I live in herefordshire - so I guess I'd get even fewer buyers.

I do have a neightbour with a good rating, who would list it for me - but how do I ever get good feedback? And this item is still unopened in its original wrapping, so I thought it would be a good thing to start with?

You get good feedback by buying :D

Doing it properly isn't a quick thing :(

I just don't understand - I'm an honest person wanting to sell a product that is genuine - I don't want/need to buy anything, however cheap. So why has the feedback become such an issue? I'm sorry if I appear thick, but I don't get it.

feedback is such an issue because of scammers. I would only by off someone over 10 feedback with a history of selling good items not a 1p ebook and if it was an expensive item they would have to have at least 50 feedback. Build it up by buying small things you might want and selling things that are cheap you want to get rid of you feedback would be good in no time

Thanks everyone. I think I will try and ebay it - with a reserve and if it doesn't sell - so be it. I know I'm honest so I'm going to give it a go. I have to start somewhere so it might as well be with this as anything else!

Remember that you will have to pay fees if you list it and it doesn't sell.
