If the open a dispute with PayPal just provide the tracking number...
Dont know if it will work but must be some loophole to protect yourself!
eBay say you have to accept PayPal (unless its a car/bike) but that leaves the seller with no protection, if the buyer pays by cash that leaves them with limited protection.
ebay need to look into this issue and create a solution!
Maybe somthing like:
1,Buyer pays by PayPal
2, PayPal email a code to the buyer
3, Buyer collects item and gives the code to the seller
4, Seller inputs the code into PayPal to prove that the buyer as been and collected the item
That way both the buyer and seller are protected.
Its simple and i dont see why it wouldnt work.
If it goes to a full dispute where seller has to send paypal the receipt for recorded the weight of the postage paid for (ie an envelope) must roughly match the item being sold (ie a TV)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Is there no way you can post the item? I really would not allow pick up on a paypal payment nowadays as too many people are getting scammed that way. I agree contact the buyer, explain the situation and let them know if they insist on paypal then you will have to post it by recordable means and provide them with the cost

A couple of problems with this solution steve first is it does not involve a long and complicated procedure where over a dozen things at least could go wrong.steven_garner wrote: »Send them a receipt tracked to the registered Pay Pal address.

Second I can find no way that a buyer can scam the seller with a simple chargeback or dispute using your solution.
So for both of the above reasons this solution would just be a total non starter with either paypal or ebay.
My advise to get either ebay or paypal to look at your solution make it longer adding a couple of pages should do the trick, and of course a lot more complex.
Also add at least two simple loopholes three would be better, where the buyer can get the item being sold for nothing.
These revisions will give your solution a fighting chance should ebay or paypal ever bother take a look at it.:rotfl:0 -

I am always curious about this. I have a RM business account and my mail is categorised as:
Under 1kg
Over 1kg but under 2kg
Over 2kg but under 5kg etc
Althought it all goes tracked, it does not require a signature but fulfills all Paypal requirements (up to £150). As RM OBA is all dealt with 'online' I do not have a 'receipt' for day to day transactions. I have a daily manifest showing the cost of my mail THAT day.
I have in time had only a handful of disputes, all of which have gone in my favour due to the tracking element (it is as reliable online as Special Delivery). Only upon occasions of fraud have I had to supply a COP, which I actually print and stamp myself
, and this does not include weight.
On an old fashioned COP (which I use when needed), as the weight is not recorded, how does this alter/prove/disprove the claim?
This is just a question I raise from curiosity, since it has never impacted me. TIA.0 -
Refund, explain, ask them to pay cash on collection or pay for postage via Paypal. Any other ways round it are just going to lead to possible problems. If they're genuine they'll pay cash or for the postage, of they aren't you'd likely lose out any way.
I've never had anyone insist to pay by Paypal and collect..0 -
Its funny how people think, if I am buying an item to collect, I always pay by paypal as I think its shows the seller that you are genuine and won't mess them about.
Also if its before payday, I can take it off my credit card rather than my bank account so don't miss out on item.:T

What would be even simpler is if Ebay/Paypal just removed the ability to file a dispute for Item not Recieved when the transaction is a collection from the seller, as surely this dispute category is has be be invalid.0 -
It's a good strategy for the buyer, but a poor option for the seller who not only has to pay unnecessary Paypal fees, has to wait an age to get at the money if transferring to a bank, and (as others have said) leaves themselves open to fraud which they will lose in every case. You can't really mess a seller about if you pay by cash.MrsVictorMildew wrote: »Its funny how people think, if I am buying an item to collect, I always pay by paypal as I think its shows the seller that you are genuine and won't mess them about.

Mrs VMWhat is happening to the English Language? These are not isolated, but repeated every day.
'Definate', 'Aswell', 'Rediculous', 'Payed'...and the best of all 'Could Of'. How can anyone think that 'Could Of' can actually mean anything. You may as well write 'Could Zebra' for all the sense it makes.0
