Wishing my life away :(

Hi, I still have a huge amount of debt to pay approx 25k, im with the cccs and still have another 6 years to go, i just end up feeling like wishing the weeks away and months to another payday and another less month to go, maybe im just fed up today but its like the light at the end of the tunnel seems forever away, just wondered if anyone else felt the same.

Didn't want to read and run Ginger, but a lot of us know that feeling very well so you're not alone, and you're in the best place for a big old :grouphug:

  • :o Same here, I think I have frugal fatigue! I get temporarily excited when I get paid so I can pay a chunk of my debt off, then feel down cos it's just another month of being skint after that and I'm waiting for next month's pay.

I know my situation isn't as bad as many others on the forum cos I don't owe a huge amount, but yes, I get very down about it and feel like I'm wishing my life away too. :o

I could kick myself about having spent on credit cards/not saved more in the past when I had the chance and had far fewer outgoings to worry about.

We'll all get there though, so try and keep your chin up hun. :D

I'm thinking of allowing myself a small treat mid-month just to cheer myself up and keep myself focused and on the debt-free straight and narrow.

  • You are so young and have so much ahead of you. You have had a hard lesson in money management which should stand you in good stead for your later years. Use this time fruitfully to gain qualifications and life experience and look forward not back. I know its hard when you have no money and everyone around you seems rich, but they too will have their debts. If you can't have a holiday then borrow a tent and go camping one weekend - if nothing else you will appreciate your creature comforts more!!! Take care

  • Aw, it is hard at times and I totally get how you are feeling.

I think it IS important to have little regular things to look forward to, they don't have to cost a lot. I second camping, and even though I am a single mum with no car I still intend to take my son this year like I have done in past years. It is good to get the fresh air, see somewhere new, and appreciate your home when you get back!

Also things like having a meal or a movie night at a mate's or relative's house and then hosting the week after, good company/fun without breaking budget. Also library for books, cds and dvds that you will enjoy. I do get fed up of being on a tight budget but most of the time I enjoy the challenge of keeping my life enjoyable whilst spending as little money as possible. :)
It is only a bargain if you need it!

    Hi Ginger

I know how you feel, I had my LBM 6 months ago and whilst I love making my payments ever month now and seeing my debt reduce it's hard knowing I have another 5 years of this.

I lie awake for hours every night thinking about how much I owe and how to try and pay it back quicker - it's become something of an obsession I think!

Coming on here everyday and reading the posts really helps keep me motivated, although I need to stop doing it in work time before I get in to trouble!

    Take care

  • Hi ginger

Keep going with belief in your heart and fire in your belly. One day...one day....you are going to tell the financial institutions (that, let's face it, have helped ruin this country with ludicrous lending) to %&*^ off.

Last year I was brought to my senses because the (UN)Co-operative Bank reduced my O/D with no warning, leaving my mortgage unpaid. Despite me being a good customer for years I was treated with almost contempt. I shoved that arrogance down their throats an hour later when I had moved all my DDs and informed them that I would continue to pay the loan and would then leave them. My first DF target is this August when I pay off their loan a year early and tell them to get stuffed. It is not the most rate-effective way of dealing with my debts but I am waiting - with immense dislike of (UN)Cooperative Bank - for my moment of glory. After that I will clear CCs one by one and, in future, any debt I do undertake will be through ZOPA or my local Credit Union. The big institutions have ruled this person one too many times. I hope lots of people will fell like this in years to come as they pay their higher taxes to float companies that are now taking the *&^%.

If we all reduce our debt we reduce their income.
Credit cards + Loans - Savings in Jan 2012 = £26,228.16 . Need to get paying them off!

  • Hi, i know exactly what you mean!!
I myself am debtfree now but my DH won`t be until Aug 2018 (management loan).
I really do wish our life away and count each month now. I have even worked out our children ages which is scary as they are toddlers now but will almost be teens :(

One way to see it is to know your paying them and that they are going down!!
Hard i know as it seems to be a long ole journey.
