Images in IE Problem

Options
Hi there

I've got a very high-powered laptop (one of those XPSs), but I have a problem I don't seem to be able to 'cure' in Internet Explorer... all of the images on web pages come out grainy and affect the structure of navigation and pages.

You may say 'use Firefox' and I already do, but because I am using two versions of the same site, with the same cookies, I need to use IE to operate one of the interfaces. I have just 'upgraded' to IE 7, but the same problem exists... can anyone help??

Thanks

Why not simply state the model number so that we all know exactly what you are talking about?

I would guess that your problem may be due to the fact that web pages are not designed to be viewed on a large widescreen displays. i.e. the images are optimised for normal standard displays.

  • It's an M1710 - with an NVidia 7900 graphics cards... however, I believe the problem must reside in the IE settings somewhere.

I understand the issue with widescreen, but these sites are fixed width, so they don't even stretch with window. In any case, widescreens don't stretch images in browsers windows, so I don't think that's the problem.

It may be a resize issue, I do notice that IE looks noticeably larger with the same websites than Firefox.

  • What ISP are you using?
Some ISPs automatically compress images so they can look they are all fuzzy.
    (AOL does).
There should be a tick box somewhere that you can untick so images are not compressed. -I haven't got a clue where though, as it depends on your ISP.
If you're feeling down, you must be holding a duck.
