What plannet are you on? Its taken me 6-7 years to save a deposit, I am one of those priced out generation you say don't exist. People younger than me are in a worse position.

The picture below reflects my reply to you believing those house price values above you put.

Pity you didn't get a hand out like someone else on here

Love the sig by the way Hamish. :)

The priddy colours to make the text stand out to us all so we don't miss it is just brilliance.

I love the quote about price rises between March & November. I've already asked him in another thread what happened in December & January but quite predictably he ignored it.

You can still buy a terraced house for 60K in this country, and a flat for 30K. Just not in the areas where demand is greater than supply.

Where do get these figures from? The average house price is £170k. A flat for 30k? Where?

If you can find housing for the prices, then they'll be in extremely economically depressed areas, defeating the point of moving in to that area in the first place.

Maybe there are 60k terraces in villages in the Welsh valleys with 40% unemployment, but that doesn't help many people, does it?

Correction. His was the sensible choice. Its the terminally stupid who took out 100 to 125% mortgages they couldn't afford and caused the mess this country is in. Its the prudent that are propping up this nation.

I hope this internet persona is not your real personality. If it is, then I pity you.
Mr D Bear that's a big statement you've just made and you've made it a few times now...

are these people the majority or minority or did you just assume it?

Mr Chucky, I notice you thanked Joe's rather big statement.

I wonder if he just assumed it?

Nope, first time I've made it.

They may be in a minority in general, however, they represented a large proportion of mortgages provided by Northern Rock between 2005 and 2007. Just remind me what happened to Northern Rock.

so they're a minority and you don't know how much of a minority but thought that you'd add the sound bite.

Northern Rock's collapse had nothing to do with 100% or 125% mortgages - it was due to them not being able to get the required liquidity on the money markets. it could have happened if they had customers with 50% mortgages, it was their liquidity model that was flawed not their lending policy

The number of people on 100% or 125% mortgages who are defaulting is miniscule. The TOTAL number of people defaulting on mortgages is miniscule, let alone 100% plus ones. Just 45,000 out of 11,000,000 mortgages were repo'd last year.

And approx 100,000 used a buy out and rent back scheme instead of being repo'ed at the last minute.

If that buy out to rent back scheme was not in place, which is a new thing, approx 145,000 would have been repo'ed.

I've said this to you before, twice, but you ignored both times then too.
