Cheapest Way To Get Mobile Internet

I've been looking at various ways of getting cheap mobile internet and wondered if anyone has a similar experience.

I'm essentially just looking for a mobile internet device. I've got a Blackberry from a friend that I plan to carry with me along with my regular PAYG phone. I've been looking at sim only contract deals and some PAYG deals. The best (cheapest) i've come across is Virgin mobile PAYG. You get web access for just 30p a day on the days you access the internet or you can add unlimited internet for £5 a month (16p a day - 1GB allowance).

Are there any cheaper ways of getting mobile internet?

Thanks

It depends how much data you actually need to download. If you'll be consuming sizeable amounts most days then the Virgin option will be quite good, or even the £5 subscription. Casual usage for checking text emails and some light surfing for news headlines, weather, and ebay bidding will only take a few megabytes per month and you'd therefore be better off with the Asda payg sim @ 20p per mb.

If the Blackberry is 3g enabled, why not go for a '3' sim which can be had free with £10 credit at the moment? Adding £5 credit every three months will give you 150mb of data allowance.

Thanks for your reply. I'll mainly be using it to check prices on ebay and amazon when i'm out and about. Probably won't be using it too much, but its the kind of thing that once I have it i'll probably use it more. I won't be using you tube, facebook or anything like that. How far does 150mb go compared to 1gb?

O2 gives unlimited mobile web for £7.50/month. Vodafone gives £5/month but probably not unlimited.

Most network providers charge £1/day max for occassional use.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
  • Lots of web browsers on PDA and newer phones can download full web pages and stream lots of data and the data usage soon mounts up.

    Get an unlimited data allowance.

O2 are good with their Simplicity sim only deals

Remember to check coverage in your area as some areas only have GPRS on some networks which is painfully slow....Neil
