I work for the cab and found this out yesterday whilst helping a client with the exact same problem.
Writing a letter to a Debt Collection Agency to ask them to stop harassing you with phone calls has got nothing to do with acknowledging a debt, maybe the CAB should check their fact....0 -
what do you mean? why would we lie about somethink like this when this is causing problems with us now as we want to change our mortgage? if this was him we would pay it!! not going through all the months of pushing this to prove it is not us !!!0

Lucy, just in case you have not noticed the hilarity is stemming from your habit of putting double exclamation marks at the end of every sentance. This and the lack of paragraphs make it difficult to read.
The style of posting is often used by internet trolls looking for arguements.
As for the so called "debt", tell the company involved to put up or shut up. Meanwhile sit your boyfriend down and get him thinking back, if this card was indeed opened at his previous address (his mums) then the chances are it was either him or someone in/close to the family who did so. How else would they have gotten hold of the card!!

Someone might lie about something like this because they spent more than they can afford and are too embarrassed to admit it.
So you're not prepared to put the effort into sorting this out even though you admit that it is causing you problems - I don't understand.
Several ways forward have been suggested - e.g. what to say to the debt collection agency, what to write to them, what not to say or write. Have you taken any of this on board?
There's a good chance that the DCA is trying all it can to convince you that you need to pay them because it's the easy way for them to get their money. They are well-known for harrassing people when they think there might be a chance of getting money out of them. There are defences against this which have been suggested to you.
!!!!!!!!!!! - in case you're running out as I had a few spare ones lying around.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0
