did you know that you can actually run a windows virus scan on your hard drive from a ubuntu livecd? might be worth checking out to see if you can salvage it, and even if you cant get windows back up working you can use the livecd to access your hard drive and get your files off (not programs thou)Drop a brand challenge

if you want MSN messenger to try aMSN looks and feels just like MSN
- It's called Windows Live Messenger
- It connects to the .NET Messenger Service
- The current version of Ubuntu includes Empathy, a multi-protocol instant messaging client.

1. same think just got renamed :P
2. if it works doesnt really matter what it connects to
3. if the OP is specific (which they was) about MSN or a e buddies thing, aMSN is perfect as taken from a 13 year old girls point of veiw it is just like MSN (windows live what ever you really want to call it) where as empathy and pidgon have a different 'feel' to them which was how it was discribed to me, so this could be a important factor all depends on the OPDrop a brand challenge

My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

hehe i think most people have noticed but just dont care since it is the same thing, and MSN is so much easier to write and say than windows live and face it humans are very lazyDrop a brand challenge

Not a lot of love for Fedora these days is there. I pretty much moved to ubuntu for my linux stuff (don't use it heavily these days), but in the early days Fedora was definitely good to me.0

i think its down to the wider support for ubuntu due to canonical that makes it the more interesting prospect especially with 10.04 just 'over the hill' which looks interesting however i have to admit some of the changes they are making seem to have rasied a few eyebrows however i think they are doing a great job.
i think the biggest improvement at the moment over old Linux's is the software centre as it makes it so much easier for people new to it to find things. and i have to admit the ubuntu one music store sounds like a interesting ideaDrop a brand challenge

If needed you can extend your free Windows 7 experience with the 're-arm' trick ..If you install Windows 7 and don't enter an installation key, the 30-day activation clock starts. To see how many days you have left, click Start, right-click Computer, and choose Properties. At the bottom of the dialog under Windows Activation, you'll see the number of days left in your trial period.
When that number gets perilously close to zero, you can extend the free period another 30 days via the following steps:
- Step 1: Click Start, All Programs, Accessories. Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator. Enter your administrator password.
- Step 2: Type the following command and press Enter:
slmgr -rearm
Note the space after slmgr and the hyphen in front of rearm.
- Step 3: Restart Windows 7.

You can run the -rearm trick a total of three times. If you perform a -rearm at the end of each 30-day period, you end up with 120 days of full, unfettered Windows 7 use without having to supply an activation key in the interim.

Totally legitimate in case anyone was wondering!0 - Step 1: Click Start, All Programs, Accessories. Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator. Enter your administrator password.
