Jump - Estate Agents - Yorkshire - Any experiences?

Hi

Does anyone have any experience of the Yorshire based EA, Jump - http://www.jumpnow.co.uk

Their setup looks different, and appeals to us. They claim to be a little more pro-active than normal companies.

Bit of background about our situation...

I'm selling my house with a S Yorks (Barnsley) based agent at present - been up for 3 weeks and to say I'm unhappy is an understatement. We've had 2 viewers, of which the EA has no feedback from in over a week, we had to call into the branch to get our brochures, and the actual woman dealing with our property didn't have our brochure in her portfolio, when we face to face introduced ourselves at the branch.

When you hear the question "So, how many viewers have you had?" from your supposed EA, it has the effect of winding you up! Should she not know that as they are the ones sending them?!?!

Anyway, we had the foresight/pessimism at first to get our tie in period cut down to nothing, so we can cut loose at any time without penalty.

With our place being at the lower end of the market (85k), it just smacks of the EA not being interested in selling as their commission won't be as chunky as a sale on say a 200k house. Or maybe I'm being over-reactionary and cynical. But, gut instincts are usually good - and I wasn't happy on Saturday when we went into the brach...

So, back to Jump. If anyone has any experiences good/bad I'll be interested to hear.

Any ideas of their initial prices or terms, for example? The guy I spoke to today regarding a house valuation sounded more interested in out situation than anyone I've spoken to so far.

Cheers People,

Dranny

I've had no dealings with them but have read plenty about them in the trade publications for Estate Agents.

whilst in the south yorks area, we bought and sold our house via these people

    http://www.merryweathers.co.uk/

did the job it says on the tin (after our first agents mucked us around something cronic - we had an offer on our house last year within a month of signing on with them)

A house just up the road from us has just been sold by Merryweathers.

I'll bear them in mind, if Jump don't come thru as a decent company.

Before listing with WH Brown, we also had Whitegates, Haybrook and Halifax round to see what they could do. Brown's got the job as they seemed most capable. After visiting them on Saturday, they seem like clowns! :o

With us also having an offer accepted on a house we want, I guess we just want things to go smoothly, so we don't lose out.

omg whbrowns (not the barnsley branch tho) were the people we dumped for their appalling behaviour in selling our house - i sent them a letter stating all their faults and that as they hadnt fulfilled their side of the contract, it was nul and void and the 14 day period didnt apply

they rolled over and agreed as i had listed soo many faults

they included, promising they had buyers for our road, and then in a month only sent one viewer who they couldnt get feedback off, they had a second viewer who they said cancelled and said they had told me but they never did so i waited and cleaned extra for no reason, we had no for sale sign for 3 weeks, plus they promised interior photos which they only took after repeated hassling, and they missed important info off our brochure

This seems like the twilight zone seabiscuit!

So far they've not got the feedback from 2 viewers, been unwilling to take extra photos, not got my brochures to me, took an age to get up on the websites, assured me my for sale sign was up ("errm no it isn't, I'm looking out of my front window now!"), and basically not talked to us throughout.

My worst gripe though, was calling into their "prominent town centre location" which took me asking directions to find, as its not on a main street.... only to find the lady dealing with our property didn't have the brochure in her files.

Basically made us feel like dirt..

Think they went bust some time back, then re-opened under the same name, same MD... your choice.

Not good, they have had to make undertakings to the OFT that they will not breach the Estate Agents Act in relation to passing on offers, not discriminating against buyers who are unlikely to buy financial services from them, and thats not all the items.

Sorry no experience of Jump...but EAs a plenty.

What we have to bear in mind is that they are all salesmen- no silly, not property salesmen - services salesmen.

And YOU are the buyer. They take your money for allowing you the priviledge of having your woefully inadequate rubbish hovel (whatever its value they make you feel that it is the pits) listed somewhere in their vaults.

I have never had an EA who chased purchasers, followed up leads, showed viewers round, could take a sensible photo or was worth one tenth what I've paid them over the years (12 sales over 30 yrs).
e.g. Its only in the last couple of years that our local EAs were open after 12 on a Saturday - can you believe that??? As if working people wanted to buy homes at the weekend, perish the thought.

Please dont be mislead into thinking they might sell your property quickly as you'll be very disappointed. The only route to a quick sale is a below market selling price on a superb lifestyle desirable property. Every buyer wants a bargain and to have an "Ideal home" lifestyle they can move straight into.

Something I have tried in the past is to Have a reality check by viewing other houses in your selling pricerange to see if you are likey to sell or not.
