I am having problems connecting my iphone 3GS with wifi...
this is since recent download to update software.
Phone tries to connect, but wifi is "greyed out"
I have searched the web and tried a couple of suggested remedies...
Restored phone to basic start up, but still not working.

My problem is that mine isnt a contract phone, it was bought in Middle East and is unlocked to work with my 3 sim card... (so cannot take it back for repair)

Until recently it has worked fine.:(

But mine's not from China!!! and wifi has been working fine for months...:(
  • A friend had the same with his and ended up taking it to the Genius bar at an Apple Shop. They were a bit vague but he ended up getting a free service repair on it.

Appointments at the apple shops are free, so if you have a shop near you, it's worth getting their opinion on it.

Obviously I'm assuming you've done a backup, reset, restore etc and followed any guides on the apple website...

Managed to get to Genius Bar at Newcastle shop, however, they tell me that phone was initially bought in Melbourne Australia! They in Uk are unable to repair, suggest contacting Australia Apple.
Ive searched on www, can find australian site, but only with possibility of searching techy Qs & As..nowhere can I find an email address to contact them to find out what to do next.

Does anyone have any info on Apple Australia?
it appears (after searching www for others with similar greyed out wifi problem that fault could be with antennae in phone...does anyone other than Apple stores repair iphones?

Im very unhappy, iphone is pretty useless without internet access.
    Thought about recycling it...

    Hi there

Can't find an address for the technical support, but did look on their standard "privacy policy" and found the following address: privacy@apple.com.au

Perhaps you could e-mail them and explain you are out of the country and need an e-mail address for technical support.

After some digging, I also found this:

    http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/locator/map.html?tySearch=1&viaProduct=4&viaSpecial=-1&strCountry=GBR&lat=54.9778404&lng=-1.6129165&gCountry=GB

Perhaps it would be worth giving them a call to see if they are able to repair the phone for you.

Thankyou so much for your help. I will given them a call, as I think repair route is going to be best as iphone is now out of guarantee period.
