I can't believe how big this thread has got....Oops. Thought you said "my head" :p....
....I used to think I was so good with my money because I kept a spending diary and didnt go over budget. But I was beginning to struggle staying to food budget and other things would suffer. I used to think there was nooooo way I could possibly spend less on food but at the same time I wasn't buying expensive foods....But fortunately I seem to have now got my grocery spend down :T due to meal planning and just thinking 'Do I really need to go in that shop'. If I fancy something different on the way home then 9 times out of 10 its tough flipping luck unless I feel like I really really deserve a treat.ORRRR--put it on your Meal Plan for next week ;) If I don't have something in I try to think of ways to live without milk for another 48 hours.Keep a 500ml carton of longlife, just so you can have a cuppa? ....If I need some fruit then I don't see the point in going without that - so its frustrating at times but I do try to get my 5 a day. Tinned in juice is lavvlee & still counts. MrS does value peach slices or fruit cocktail around 35p for a middling sized...Yesterday at 10am I made a curry to use up a small slice of turkey breast. I used some scraggy old veg and chickpeas from the cupboard to bulk it out into 3 portions. Last year I would have bunged it into the freezer all its little ownsome, forgotten about it and then thrown in out about 2 years later!
....And its all down to the power of NSD's!!! :j
    :o It's like we're re-writing 'My Fair Lady'..By Jove! I think she's got it!:rotfl:The Spending Diary is a very good idea & helps identify where & when you're tempted.

This challenge makes me feel a little ashamed:o struggling to get to 6 NSD's at the moment. I didnt realise i was so bad at keeping the purse shut. None of us do till we start here, so in no way are you alone!
Can i renew my pledge for
6 NSD's this month. I look at those who are managing over 10 NSD's per month with more than a little awe. This is my new years resolution and i am determined to get better at it...Trin
Hey Trin, anything we can help you with, JoJo too? Have you noticed a particular stumbling block or do you just live closer to Life's Spanner Factory :p There have been some very good ideas, such as:-
Have an allowance at the beginning of the month for any collections at work
; you've already 'spent' it & if it's not used can be carried over or put into savings.
Draw out any subs for your/kid's activities at the beginning of the month & put them into envelopes/jars.
    Discount any essential travel,
prescriptions & associated medical emergency expenses providing you buy nothing that isn't allowed on your Permitted Purchase Plan [d'ya like that! Juss fortovit :D]
These are only suggestions of course, because it is how YOU want to work YOUR Challenge. We all have differing life-styles with vastly opposing priorities BUT! that doesn't mean we can't support each other & hopefully have a giggle along the way.

Barbie--Hi btw --said about 3pm being time for a snack. Well. Buy a multipack with your groceries & take them into w*rk with you. If you have a dedicated drawer or locker etc, perhaps get a box of soup-in-a-cup for those days you leave lunch on the draining-board [so speaks the Voice of Experience :o] or in reality, they'd slip into your hand/laptop bag too.

I do hope Peeps feel they can share their frowns around, cuz a problem shared & all that..Someone is bound to have a solution, so please just say OK?

First day of the month, first NSD for me! Had to get OH's odor eaters which he gave me money for, and then I was virtuous fighting the voice that was going "you can buy something" BUT I didn't. I have choccy buttons as a reward (bought before end of last month so need eating up)
