Can I join in this month please? I'm going to aim for 15 days this month, but I won't be counting the days I have to pay bills, rent, etc.

Well I'm in again this month...didn't quite achieve in February, but will try harder!!!! I don't include bills/groceries/petrol as they're budgeted spends....but will include everything else. Could be difficult this month as we're (hopefully) moving house...so am going to aim for 15 days!!!

Everything you've said Skaps, is how I feel about this particular Challenge :o Always had to be careful with money but somehow, never really considered just not going into a shop in the first place. ..

Me too......I used to think I was so good with my money because I kept a spending diary and didnt go over budget. But I was beginning to struggle staying to food budget and other things would suffer. I used to think there was nooooo way I could possibly spend less on food but at the same time I wasn't buying expensive foods. My fridge was always stocked with fresh vegetables and I always used to waste a little as something would go off. When I started seeing my BF my diet changed from virtually vegetarian to eating more meat and my grocery went up - well meat is flipping expensive! I've also always enjoyed being spontaneous and if I've been driving home and fancied something I would just stop off and buy the ingredients without thought of how I was going to finish off the stuff I didn't use.

But fortunately I seem to have now got my grocery spend down due to meal planning and just thinking 'Do I really need to go in that shop'. If I fancy something different on the way home then 9 times out of 10 its tough flipping luck unless I feel like I really really deserve a treat. If I don't have something in I try to think of ways to live without milk for another 48 hours. I still feel as if I am eating healthily as the meals I make contain lots of veg nd in fact I'm eating smaller portions instead of eating everything in the pan! If I need some fruit then I don't see the point in going without that - so its frustrating at times but I do try to get my 5 a day.

Yesterday at 10am I made a curry to use up a small slice of turkey breast. I used some scraggy old veg and chickpeas from the cupboard to bulk it out into 3 portions. Last year I would have bunged it into the freezer all its little ownsome, forgotten about it and then thrown in out about 2 years later!

....And its all down to the power of NSD's!!! :j

So I will renew my pledge for March (will stick with 17 please) and thank-ee kindly BigMummaF for hosting once again.

As a newbie, I'm gonna go for 13 days. I'll be spending 10 days this month in the office, these are the days where I'll just pop into the cafe next door for a fried egg sarnie at 11am, despite having my lunch with me! Then at 3pm, it's time for the KitKats or crisps and I'll end up buying another newspaper or magazine, etc, etc. So from tomorrow, I'll leave the cash at home and take my supplies with me. Including the new book I bought in the charity shop yesterday, for 50p ;)
We do a big shop every weekend so the NSD will be whichever day we're not food shopping. That just means no more wandering round the shopping centre and eating in fast food joints or spending a tenner in the Greggs just because we're out and about. We always seem to go out for one specific thing (eg, DS needs some socks, or whatever) and we end up spending loads of money on food, comics and other rubbish. From now on, all of the shopping is being done on one day and I'm taking a list. And we'll be home by lunchtime so we won't need to eat out. :D (I'm taking off one day for Mother's day, I deserve a treat!)

    Hello All

This challenge makes me feel a little ashamed:o struggling to get to 6 NSD's at the moment. I didnt realise i was so bad at keeping the purse shut.

Can i renew my pledge for 6 NSD's this month. I look at those who are managing over 10 NSD's per month with more than a little awe. This is my new years resolution and i am determined to get better at it.

    Thanks All

Can't believe tomorrow is the first of March  where is the year going to

As I forgot what date it was I haven't done a "lunches" shop, but am just about to go foraging in fridge, cupboards & freezer to see what I can rustle up and decant some fizzy juice into a smaller bottle.

Things are going to be tight this month (and the rest of the year really :o) so I'm on a mission not to spend when I don't totally have to :)
