Showers in Stansted arrivals

I will be arriving into Stansted from a flight from Madeira (hopefully!) in a few months time. For allergy reasons I wanting to have a shower before I leave the terminal and get into my car.
I understand there are showers available at Stansted, has anyone used them before or have any details on them? Is there a charge for their use?

Ask at airport information desk - £5 gives you access to the showers and a towel. (second link)

Yes, har har. I've already read that page. I was hoping to hear from someone who has actually used the service, as to where it is, and if you do need to pay £5 as I'll have my own towel...

If you look at the terminal map (http://www.stanstedairport.com/assets/B2CPortal/Static%20Files/Stansted_Terminal_Map_01_2008.pdf) you will see the showers are after you have come through customs into the public area of arrivals (just to right of no 3 on map). I dont know but would guess that the price includes the towel and you wont get a reduction.

I can't see anything depicting showers on that map? Or it is just in the toilets?

If you go to the 3rd page, international arrivals it's next to the toilets. You may need to zoom in to see the symbol.

I used the shower on my arrival into Stansted last Thursday. It's quite nice as public showers go, it actually gets up to temperature for one, unlike some motorway services places. And it's clean!

I get the impression they aren't used very often. The guy on the desk had to ask someone where the key was. Apparently they only have one key so I member of staff has to come over and open the door for you.
