well I have bought my vases and bowls mainly from tesco, every time they have had a sale on I have nipped in and had a look, managed to get 3 tall vases for £1 each, then bought some bowls for 50p and some proper sweet jars for £1
All the sweets I have bought so far have come from the £1 shop, still need a few more tho and I have already had everything they have got in thats good lol
So the rest are coming from ebay I think...have found a few places selling wholesale sweets at good pricesMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
Sorry to dredge up this thread! But does anyone know what kind of shelf life sweets have. Anything from Lips to mints to retro sweets. I have put my mum in charge and she wants to go this weekend, but not sure they will last?
Thanks

Boiled sweets can go sticky and get that weird softness on the outside, mints are generally ok so long as they are stored in a cool dry place. I would urge her to wait before purchasing tbh, it's not worth the risk of a load of sticky sweeties, I'd try to do it a week or two before.Bump due 22nd September0

the co-op have skittles, and other sweets at 74p a bag thatshalf price i bought 10 bags the other day they have a shelf life till june 2010.
Morrisons had backs of fruit pastilles at 75p a bag again half price so i got 10 bags of them too and again they have a very long shelf life. they also had rolls of love hearts 4 in a pack for 34p. we got 20 rolls.
We decided that we would just but seets we like when we see then on offer and put them away in a box.
Just need to get something chocolatey like mice nearer the time as i dont want them to melt.
I wonder what other bargains we will find.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T

Keep the love hearts in a very dry place, I found some in the cupboard a little white ago that had gone spotty and the words were blurred (still in date and our cupboard is clean!!!) Keep them in a tub or something to keep them fresh!Bump due 22nd September0

We're not having a sweet bar now
We're moving house next weekend, and my bloody washing machine died the other day, so we've had dip into the wedding fund as a washing machine comes first!
Got bags and metal scoops going spare now.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Oh no that's a shame, although washing your clothes might be a tad handier than sweeties!
You could always hang on to your bits, the wedding is a little while off so you might be able to find some extra pennies by then?Bump due 22nd September0 -

I could do, but this house is eating all our funds! Then we've got a holiday in July, which we already had to knock down from a fortnight to a week, so the sweets are gonna have to be given a miss.
Nobody apart from you lot knew we were going to have them anyway so not like people will miss themTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
oh well thats not too bad, you never know there might be someone on here that could offer you a little contribution to your holiday spends for them.Bump due 22nd September0
