Like many people we are planning a sweetie bar for our wedding. I was wondering where everyone has gotten their sweets from? We're after lots of retro favourites to go with our 50s theme.

Makro, Booker or Costco.
My Mum's got cards for all 3, so I'll see which one works out the cheapest.
I am getting Asda smart price Dolly Mixtures though (26p a bag!)Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
i think youd be better off looking for a local sweet shop that may be able toorder for you - especially if you want the retro stuf - you wouldn't have to pay the postage either
We have a sweetie man who comes to our office every couple of weeks -his per kg pik n mix prices are shocking but if you ask for a tub it still works out cheaper than the internetHad a thrifty wedding 17-06-10

If you know someone with a cash and carry card, try there as they have most sweets you can imagine, and their prices aren't too bad either.
Don't buy anywhere by the quarter, or gram, buy by the tub or box as it works out so much cheaper!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
cash and carry if you can as it is way cheaper.
For example 1p sweets - you get 600 in a tub should cost you £6 in a shop or £3ish at the cash and carry.
Chocolate buttons is ok i have spent the last 2 hpurs looking through the entire store and added £600 worth of sweets to my basket, oooops, but it meant i could print of my basket and keep the list with me for when im sweetie hunting.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

Can i ask how much people are spending on their sweetie table. I originally budgeted £40 for it but i think that was way under budget when i think about the dishes/glasses and the sweets i'll need.0

I originally budgetted £200 as i knew i needed to buy glaases etc.
I have found glasses all costing about £25 each, then theres the sweets, bags, scoops etc.
So my budget has been blown.
Im holding out on buying the glasses to seei f there is another cheaper way of doing it, i have no use for the glasses after the event so im reluctant to buy them or even hire them.
I read somewhere that £1 - £1.50 per head. But i didnt know if this was including the glasses or just the sweets.
But the bigger the glass the bigger quantity of sweets to fill it, as theres no point in having a huge glass if its only 30% full.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T

You could always cheat and get someone else to sort it for you?
