Not if you're a student sadly ! And as she (and her fellow travellers) are Under 21 they will find it very hard to get served alcohol without ID.
Have just phoned Nationwide and as her account card is for a CashBuilder account it won't work abroad apparently. Need to go back to Plan B and find another way. She has a Barclays current account with an ATM card but am guessing that will be quite an expensive way to withdraw cash / make payments - our fault for not sorting it sooner :mad:0 -

NOT NECESSARILY - VARIES FROM PLACE TO PLACE

How long is she going for? If it's only a week or something she'll probably only have to use an ATM two or three times. Even with the Barclays account she'll probably only pay something like a fiver in fees. Doesn't see worth worrying about in the overall scheme of things.0

Go into an estate agent and ask for a prepaid card.0

Our experiences differ - I was asked for ID twice last week in New Orleans when paying in shops by card. Plus, you usually have to sign, not chip and pin, so the potential for being caught is much higher.
I certainly wouldn't suggest you send her with your card. Just use her Barclays account and pay the (small) fees.0 -

I agree - and what happens if she tries to use it in a shop, gets asked for ID and can't provide it? It could be quite embarrassing.
I still think it would work if ATM withdrawals were the only purpose for the card, but it's not ideal.
The Barclays account isn't great, but there are worse...
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/overseas-card-chargesDoes remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
