    Thanks both.

I had a quick look on Play.com and Amazon and both offered dozens of variations, many of which were obviously wrong. Crucial offered one.

I just used the drop down menu to select the right model rather than download the System Scanner. Will this be OK or should I still use the scanner?

Will upgrading the memory invalidate the warranty?

I'd still run the scanner for a second opinion, so to speak. It really should not invalidate the warranty, but these bloody manufacturers do try it on. Perhaps, if it has to go back one day - remove the added memory?

    HTH.

Thanks, I will run the scanner for a second opinion.

I did think about removing the memory if it did have to go back, but just wondered if there was any way they would be able to tell that it had previously been upgraded.

However surely they wouldn't give you instructions on replacing the memory if it invalidated the warranty?

I ran the scanner, but it couldn't make a complete match so I had to use the drop downs after all.

Have ordered it from Crucial through TopCashBack for 10% cashback.

Nice one. It's easy to replace, just remember to ground yourself before you touch it.
As them knowing if it's been upgraded if you take the memory out, don't think so unless it's obviously been opened.

Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.

Will touching a radiator be enough to ground myself, or OH if he does it, or do we need to do anything else?

    Yes, quite sufficient.

Also, don't forget to remove the battery as well as unplugging from the mains.
    Move along, nothing to see.

Thanks for that. I think I did read that in the instructions, but had forgotten. I will remember to read the instructions before starting.
