I think rather than apologizing to your ignorant neighbour you should have smacked him in the mouth!0

have to agree, bang out of order
personally i wouldnt presume to drive on someones driveway at a viewing, and some areas can be tricky for parking outwith that
all the neighbour had to do was ask for the car to be moved,or just sling theirs on the pavement in front of their hourse till the car moved(if possible) given they know the house is mainly empty0 -
If I was your viewer I would have done a runner too. Sorry to say but no matter how nice the place was, nobody wants to live next door to people who have no tollerance.0

Sadly for you your buyer has had a lucky escape:(0

I'd firebomb her house if that had happened to me...
All jokes aside though it can be annoying having your drive blocked. Where I lived there was a little garden centre benid our house which was accessed by a path running down between our place and the bungalow next door. One day DW andf I came home in seperate cars to find the driveway blocked by some cow who decided that nowhere else on the street was suitable despite there being no other cars parked there. We parked our cars an inch from her front and rear bumpers so she would have to come and ask us to let her out.
Sure enough about half an hour later the doorbell rang.
Her: I need you to move one of your cars..
Me: Do you treally, why is that then?
Her: Well you've blocked me in.
Me (closing the door): I know.
Her: Hang on! I'm already late for an appointment!
Me: You're going to be even later then aren't you? You can get a bus from the end of the road or use the phone box to call for a taxi if you're pushed for time.
Her: So you're not going to let me out then?
Me: It does look like it doesn't it?
Her: Can you PLEASE let me out?
Me: Ah... that's better, manners at last!
Her: Well I was shopping in your Garden Centre.
Me: Nothing to do with us, he's a neighbour. You did cause us an awful lot of inconvenience by blocking our drive.
Her: Oh sorry...
Me: OK, just don't do it again.[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0 -
Sounds to me your neighbour was being malicious knowing your circumstances. Maybe she is envious of your position. At least you are forewarned now.0

I know! She has always been a bit mouthy and has got a bit of a reputation. It puts us in a bit of a predicament now. The best that I can hope for is that we either sell to someone who can give them a run for their money or police who wouldn't stand for the language etc. It was always a little embarassing to hear her talking like a fish wife when we lived there. It's such a shame. Everyone else on the street is really friendly and polite. They (the neighbours) think nothing of effing and blinding in normal conversation. I'd have been put off too, if I'd heard it before we bought it. I fear that this house may turn into a millstone because of them. Buyers have so much choice at the moment. I can't blame them for looking elsewhere.0 -
If I were in your shoes I would go over and apologize and explain the situation. I bet she will apologize in return. She was probably really tired and just wanted to get into her drive, granted there is no excuse for her behavior, I would be upset too.
Our neighbors house is for sale and even when it's just the EA coming over and no viewers and a spot in front of the neighbors house, he always parks half across our drive. It really irritates me even if I'm not going out.
I live by the old golden rule....treat others as you would want to be treated. She may not apologize but you will feel better knowing you did the right thing on your part and there may not be issues with future viewings.
Best wishes on selling0 -

Exactly. And who knows how long the OP's neighbour has had inconsiderate prats parking over their driveway (whether to do with the OP or not).
It pis ses me off when people do this (even with space in the road so as no need to do so in the first place) so I can see where the neighbour is coming from here, regardless of their behaviour being a bit out of order.0
