pet hair vacuum

Can anyone recommend a really good vacuum for picking up cat hairs? We have 2 Maine Coons, we don't really want to spend over £70 but are dysons really worthj the extra £200? Thanks

I've had Dyson vacuum cleaners in the past, and quite honestly wouldn't have another one.
I replaced my upright Dyson with a Miele Cat and Dog (similar price to a Dyson), that really is worth the extra. Only downside is that you have to buy bags, but it's better built and the performance is brilliant and it's the least noisy vacuum I've owned.
For £30 you can increase the warrenty to 10 years
Hope that helps0 -
We've got a Vax pet one but still have to go on our knees and just use the crevice tool.
I don't really think there's been one invented that'll pick up our border collie's hairs without any bother.
The best thing I've found to do is put on my crocs shoes and scrape the carpet with my feet, till there are little piles of hair which can be picked up. Really good exercise too

My Dyson DC04 didn't pick up collie hair but my new DC25 Animal does!0 -
LOL now that is initiative, getting exercise and cleaning the house in one
we bought a little rubber block from a cat show once that does the same thing but its a right pain. Do the turbo pet tools that come with the pat vacuums actually do anything? 0 -
The turbop tools are ok but do block up after a bit. I take ours apart, there are 4 screws, give it a good clean then reassemble.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I agree with Jay Tee - we've just gone from using a Dyson to the Miele Cat and Dog. It's brilliant, comes with loads of accessories and although we now need to buy dustbags, you get a pack of 4 dustbags and 2 filters for £9.
We switched because the dyson wasn't picking up the hair from one Maine Coon and a labrador. Bought it from Argos for £180 in December and I've seen it in Debenhams for the same price.0 -
I bought a Dyson Animal Ball in Nov. we have two Maine Coons and a blonde labrador.
And.... I just LOVE it! Its the best thing since sliced bread and not only lofts all the hairs but a lot of dust in my carpets as well which had bulit up with a few years of hard work lugging Henry hound around
. It s easy to empty and good on hard floors too
In short, I am one very happy bunny with my Dyson.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Totally agree i've had a Dyson animal for 3 years for a Golden retriever 3 ragdolls a Wegie and 2 moggies. Best hoover i've ever owned (i've had vax's and henry's in the past) Well worth the price. Also I had a catch break a few months ago. I was well out of guarantee period. I phoned them and they sent a replacement with no charge. If you do get one make sure its the animal though as the brushes get far more hair than a normal dysonI bought a Dyson Animal Ball in Nov. we have two Maine Coons and a blonde labrador.

The only down point I can see is if you live in a house with stairs (we don't) as they aren't the lightest things in the world0 -
I have a Dyson DC19T2 which is very effective, however I wouldn't pay £200 for it I bought it for £100 in the recent Asda sale. :money: I think the five year guarantee makes this excellent value and the extra tools for the Animal can be bought separately from the Dyson website.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
