yup or dual boot
have you tried running the program in compatibility mods?0 -
You referring to the Vista Home Basic laptop?
No i haven't. I didn't know you could select what type of mode you could run it in. I think i tried it once in XP years ago. I'd have thought (if in Vista) you could run it in XP mode & that's that (i.e. not be picky between WHICH type of XP you run in).
Dual boot? Is that partitioning? Only way i know of creating a partition whilst an OS is running & active is by using Partition Magic. Not only that, it's not my laptop, so it's probably best i try out Virtual PC 1st.
Have emailed Alpine but am not holding my breath for a reply.
It'll have to be tried tomorrow anyhow as it's late in the day now & i'm up at 6:30am.0 -
yeah just right click on the program shortcut and select compatibility
then you can select the modes to run in
got to be worth a try0 -
Emailed Alpine, telling them the whole situation - that i can pair, but the program wont detect bluetooth devices when it comes to updating.
Their reply was fantastic
They emailed me an attachment of the update process .pdf & said if that doesn't work, then i'm to call their technical line on 0845-give-me-all-your-money!!!!
Tried the right click > run in mode & was able to select WinXP SP2
Didn't work
Now i'm going to try it in Virtual PC
After that i'm going to have to crack open the bluetooth device i bought from PC World, knackering any chance i may have had of a refund
& if THAT doesn't work, then i've ran out of ideas & i'll not be best pleased0 -
You could always look at Saynoto0870 for a cheaper number.Their reply was fantastic
