    OK, here goes.
This is the command that I used to download your clip:-
    get_iplayer --get --type radio --url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/irish/video_audio/player/409/english/

    Here's an explanation:-
get_iplayer is the name of the program you call up.
--get means go and get the clip/show/whatever.
--type radio means it's audio, not a tv show.
--url=http://..... means get it from this url.

You use the url from the required webpage, like you did when you downloaded YouTubes.
So your instruction is always the same, but with a different url.
The audio clips are downloaded as mp3 files.

    Thanks so much mate,

Problem though - copied and pasted everything in your suggestion- File does not exist.

Then I copied it without the first get_iplayer in case it was a problem due to duplication. error message says "--get is not recognised as an internal or external command"

What am I doing wrong. Ive downloaded and run the program, opened it up and theres a black screen. Lots of white text flies past, then you paste your command and hit enter?

    Hmm...

When you start the program from the 'Start Menu' it should open up as a black screen as you said.
Then it will just sit there waiting for you to enter the whole command.
Please try typing it in by hand, instead of copy/paste.
    Then hit 'return' key.
