Hi there,
Was wondering if someone could advise me.
I bought a video ipod a few years ago. I mainly bought it because of the memory size but recently when I've been watching videos on YouTube I've been prompted by RealPlayer to download certain videos.
This might sound really basic to those in the know, but is there a way of downloading my favourite videos and then tranfering them to my ipod?
If so, what is the process?
Thanks in advance

Hi
There are lots of programs designed to download videos from YouTube.
One that I've used is called 'YouTube Downloader HD'.
It has the option to download in mp4 format for iPods.
It's a free download from here:-http://www.youtubedownloaderhd.com/

Great! I knew something must be out there.
Thanks so much, Ill try it tonight and let you know how I get on:T0 -
Agree, there are lots of websites that will do this for you such as:
keep-youtube (dot com)
dirpy (dot com)
*** sorry newbie can't post links***
that let you do this (although there are a small number of videos you can't get).
These sites let you save in MP4 format so no conversion required afterwards - just drag the saved file to your iPod in iTunes.

Hello,
I used the YouTube Downloader HD and have saved loads of my favourite videos already. Thank you!
Is there a similar thing you can do for sound files? For example a BBC site has some sound files I'd like to download and listen to when travelling. You can click play and listen when you are on the site but there doesn't appear to be any download feature. When I right click and go to "properties" there is an address. Would this work with some bit of free software?
I hope I've made that clear and someone knows what I mean!

Hi
There are a few methods for downloading BBC Radio shows (if that's what you want).
The simplest program for Windows is probably 'nerdoftheherd Radio Downloader'.
It's been discussed in a thread, look at post #16 here:-

Thanks for that link - I'm currently trying to open it but my computer is running really slow.
The thing I want to record is not a radio show. I don't know how to describe it but here is a link. I suppose it's just audio content or something

Hi there,
It's not allowing me to run Radio Downloader. An error message saying "requires the .NET framework 2.0 or higher"
Sorry, I'm really dense when it comes to these things. Is there something else I should be downloading too?0 -
There's no need to use any additional software to download YouTube videos:

Just download them, copy them to iTunes, and then sync to your iPod.0 -
@ gtothec
OK
The program I suggested above works just for the 'Listen Again' BBC Radio shows.
The clip that you want to download is more difficult. Radio Downloader is no use for the job.
I can download it using a program called 'get_iplayer'. It's mentioned in post #2 of the thread I gave you.
But 'get_iplayer' isn't easy to use. It runs with Windows or Linux but it is a 'command line' program. You have to enter all your instructions from the keyboard, not 'point and click'. So I don't recommend it unless you've had experience using that type of system.
ps To use the Radio Downloader you need to install .NET 2.0 or higher from the Microsoft website.Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Thanks for the advice,
I've had a look at the other thread you mentioned. If I did decide to go down the more complicated route is it just the same line of text for each one, with the relevant bit changed?
I know it's a big ask but would it be possible to give me a step by step idiots guide for the first one? Go on, you are so clever bat999! :money:
I'm using Microsoft Windows XP0
