Bolt Ons -Underhanded but not illegal practice!

  • Someone suggested calling the provider... if you do speak to someone at the company get their full name, or their name and "employee number" (as some prefer to give that out to their surname)... better still, ask them to put everything you've discussed in an email and send it to you.

I had months of trouble with my bank when an employee told me something in unambiguous terms, only to be completely contradicted by the next person who I spoke to the following month. In short - they were trying to bully me into a loan I didn't want or need - the 2nd guy I spoke to agreed completely that it was "inappropriate" and that my suggestion was the "best approach"... not having that in writing caused months of problems.

Almost everyone I spoke to after that wrote it off with "nobody would have said that" (calling me a liar), "he was mistaken" and similar.

    Get it in writing.

As for the point of the OP, thanks for mentioning it - I'll be getting onto a mobile contract in the reasonably near future and probably would have assumed bolt ons would expire at renegotiation. I'll be sure to keep a closer watch on it.

Very noble of you, however by calling them 'Bolt Ons' you're clearly talking about O2 :rotfl:

Lol at the hiding the company name, yet using their lingo.

I don't believe it to be completely down to the adivsors to give you advise about your bolt ons. They give you advise about your general usage and select a tariff to suit best. This doesn't include any bolt ons all the time as at the end of the line, it's something the customer has chosen to have at some point throughout the contract and it's your responsibility to make sure you have everything to suit yourself

To be fair, I think you should just take it on the chin as poorly managing your account as after X number of YEARS, you should know EXACTLY what you have on your account..

Although, if you prefer, you can continue to blame the company and their poorly trained advisors.. :rotfl:
