How much did you spend on the Royal Carribean Cruise?

Hi there,
Please, please could someone give me a straight answer to how much the drinks are on the Royal Carribean (Adventure of the Seas). I know that lemonade, iced water, tea and coffee are free but how much is:-
Beer
Wine
Coke
Champagne
I have heard you can buy a book of champagne vouchers (10 drinks for $45) don't know how true that is. I have already book the cruise and getting excited but don't want a massive bill at the end as well, so am trying to forward plan. I know the answer is to stick to the freebies, but I would like the odd tipple.

Thanks
Nic

We were on a 12 day cruise just before Christmas, we found the prices of drinks are on a par with UK pub prices. Also you get a receipt everytime you sign for something so you can keep a rough tally or an exact one if you want to! We spent about £10 a day on drinks on Holland American Line for a coupe of G & T's, couple of beers, equivalent of aroud half a bottle of wine per day. You can also buy Starbucks style coffees etc at extra charge.

There is plenty of information on cruise costs at this site:

    http://www.cruise.co.uk/?gclid=CJvurpevgaACFUsA4wodLiXgjw

It is searchable by line and ship if you wish. I believe RCI are one of the lines that slap a service charge on your cabin every day, plus about 17% on every drink to pay the barman. That's why we cruise with P&O where gratuities are discretionary.

RCI gratutiies are also discretionary, just go to reception and tell them you want them all taking off as you prefer to tip for good service.

I have paid gratutities up front, about £35 per person - does this mean they won't be included? I guess I should wait and see if it is on the receipt. Thanks need all the help I can get first time on a cruise ship.

Don't worry too much it's great fun cruising but some people ( on cruise critic) take themselves very seriously and make newcomers feel inadequate.

I am sure you will have a great time when are you off? and where are you cruising to?

    hi

have just come back from a RC cruise around the Arabian gulf ( Dubia , Abu Dhabi , etc )

soft drinks can be purchased as a package , adults is $48 for 7 days ..
    Adults' Fountain Soda Package
This package entitles guests 18 years of age and older to unlimited consumption of fountain sodas (no cans) at all bars and lounges, the Windjammer Caf!, Main Dining Room and private destinations (CocoCay® and Labadee®).
+ also a souvenir cup is included ( they fill this up at any bar ) this is good for keeping drinks cool by sun lounger :j

    also there is
    Kids' Fountain Soda Package
as above , but is £2 less per day

we purchased one adult and one child
    ( we are family of 4 )
the trick is that way my missus got all our drinks on her seapass card and the kids could please themselves
without bothering us all the time;)

prices are same as last time we went on a med cruise
    with RC

also a good value is the large can of Fosters
( 750ml ) they have on board ,works out cheeper than 2 glasses of bier

  • If you want to save money Nic you should avoid the cruise ship's tours which are always very expensive and many you can do yourself. Last year in the Far East we teamed up with other cruisers on our ship we met through Cruise Critic and did private pre booked tours. The cost worked out at 50% of the price of the Princess organised tours, and being in a smaller group we saw a lot more.

Thank you so much Macro Duck - this information is nowhere to be seen. I have searched high and low - RC are cheeky adding yet more gratuities but they have a captive audience don't they.
