Why would that be? The property isn't being bought and sold, it's a bequest in a will.

Can the title deeds be changed?
This can happen whenever ownership is transferred including:- if one joint owner has died
- if a sole owner has died and left the property to someone else in their will.
If you have an outstanding mortgage, you'll also have to get your lender to agree to any changes in writing before the deeds are changed. You'll also have to write to your lender, asking them to send the title deeds to your solicitor. Once they have changed the deeds, your solicitor will return them to your mortgage lender. If there are any other joint owners, they'll also have to agree to any changes.

There is stlll a mortgage in your fathers name.
The house has not been transfered to the new owners.
Have you gone through probate yet?
I wonder what else you may have missed.0 -

I ask this is as most lenders will not grant a mortgage to anyone who doesn't appear as the "owner" and named on the deeds.0 -

This is rather odd. A mortgage is simply a special kind of loan, whereby the owner of a property gets a loan in return for offering their property up as security. So, if the borrower fails to make the loan repayments, then the lender takes (repossesses) the security. It's odd that you offered up a property you didn't own as security for the loan (mortgage). But you are where you are and you have a mortgage on a property you don't own.my question on what to do about my deceased father's mortgage. Me an my 2 sisters are paying my fathers mortgage (in his sole name)and me and my sisters are to inherit in the will. Mother not on the mortgage, and needs to live there.
Do i tell the Halifax that he's passed away, just show them the death cert. and change it into are names?, need lawyers?.
We fixed it for 5 years to jmay 2014 last year! Still keep paying until end of fix? then maybe go onto svr? or do get the name changed at the end of the fix?
If the mortgage is in the name of you and your sisters, then no - you need do nothing. However, as part of the process of dealing with your father's affairs, the deeds of the property should be changed to show that you and your sisters now own it.
The lender will no doubt be informed, but that ought to change nothing.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
