A solicitor has to be involved as the title deeds will have to be changed this is a legal process...call the Halifax they will keep you right..this should be done sooner than later......0

As executor you inform debtors and creditors, call in debts and pay out debts and this will include the Halifax. You don't need a solicitor for this, although you may chose to use one..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

If they are taking on ownership of the house a solicitor is required to complete the conveyancing0 -

My apologies, I was trying to be helpful. I misunderstood and thought you were asking if you needed a solicitor to inform the Halifax......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

As executor you have a legal responsibility to settle the estate. That means ensuring all debts are paid and then ensuring all beneficiaries receive whatever they are bequeathed. Whatever that entails, you can't not do it and it has to be done within a reasonable time.pict_saver wrote: »yes done that!
How can you have done this?
There is stlll a mortgage in your fathers name.
The house has not been transfered to the new owners.
Have you gone through probate yet?
I wonder what else you may have missed.0 -

Why would that be? The property isn't being bought and sold, it's a bequest in a will......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Do i tell the Halifax that he's passed away, just show them the death cert. and change it into are names?, need lawyers?.
We fixed it for 5 years to jmay 2014 last year! Still keep paying until end of fix? then maybe go onto svr? or do get the name changed at the end of the fix?
thanks in advance
In whose name(s) is the mortgage? And who is the owner(s) named on the title deeds to the property?
I ask this is as most lenders will not grant a mortgage to anyone who doesn't appear as the "owner" and named on the deeds.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
