Whether HomeBase took the money in January is neither here nor there.
The contract is only complete when the customer takes possession of the goods.
HB can just refund you and legally they are well within their rights to do this with the customer having no recourse.
I reckon that's probably the best course of action now. Cheers for all the help.
Just to clarify that the main reason I was annoyed with the automated phonecalls is that it stated that I should ring them up to discuss the options on their 0845 number, pure cheek. I'll find the number on that Saynoto0845 site I suppose.0 -
On the subject of beds, get up on the wrong side this morning?
and on the subject of SOGA you obviously have nothing valid to inputI find that going to your local store and having a rant at the top of your voice usually helps
I find people that do this some of the most annoying people on the planet- its people who think because they aren't in the right they should kick up a fussYou get what you want about 50% of the time and you get nothing the other 50%, but you feel loads better
What a sweeping statement!! !0 -

Well I was being called a mug so I feel like I have a right to respond...0 -
I believe this to be the key phrase.
This, to me, translates to "Out of Stock"
I've just checked and it's still on the website,I'm not allowed to post links though, the actual phrase they used was
"Home delivery from 10 days"
Given up on the whole thing now, going to wait til they ring me again and i'll just get a refund.0 -
I've been trying to order the same bed too - it's still listed on the Homebase site three months later.
It seems they do have stock but only in certain distribution centres; their online stock checker varies depending on the postcode you enter and Homebase have confirmed this by email. (It's available to central London postcodes for example but not to Norfolk, where I am.)
Given they make deliveries to their stores all the times, I can't see why they can't move stock between distribution centres when someone orders it - after all, that would be the "distribution" bit in their names. Especially as they already charge for delivery.
In purely legal terms Homebase can refuse to sell to anyone, and yes, they can reject an order up until the contract is fulfilled. But that's not the point.
The point is that it's poor customer service to offer something for sale on a national website that they seem largely incapable of delivering.0 -

I've just looked through the thread and I can't see a mention of the model in question (or maybe I'm going blind). So my question is, how do you know you were trying to order the same model???
Homebase are the same company as Argos, and most of what they sell is very low quality at high prices. If I were you I would stay well away from big chain stores and big brand names if you want good quality at a low price.0 -

With a big retailer like Homebase (which also includes Argos in the group) they can dictate to the manufacturer which models they want them to make, how many, and for how long they want them to produce them.
I think you'll find that not all large companies actually are able to yeild that power, if the supplier cannot make it they cannot make it whether Homebase throw a fit or not!Always ask ACAS0 -

That isn't true with companies the size of Homebase/Argos (the same company). If they want a manufacturer to continue making a product then they will continue to make it. Most bed manufacturers actually make mattresses to big retailers specs anyway.0
