Hopefully someone on here can put my mind at rest a wee bit, at least to stop me going totally doolally before Monday when I can phone my BDC. :o

Was checking my post earlier and noticed a letter from JCP regarding my Incapicity Benefit, it reads:

    Dear Miss xxxxxx

    Regarding Incapacity Benefit

A CHANGE IN YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS

Your account details have recently been changed. This means that future payements will be sent to your new account.

I usually receive my IB benefit, paid directly in to the bank, along with my IS every 2nd Thursday (was changed from a Wednesday a few months ago). I 've checked my online banking and there's an IS payment made yesterday for the IS part only, the IB element (typically the highest amount) is missing.

The last payment on the 4th Feb has gone through ok at the full amount.

None of my circumstances have changed, had the same bank account for 4+ years, and certainly haven't changed my National Insurance details. :D

Does anyone have any idea what the letter is referring to, and why this would affect IS paying my IB payment?

Just a bit worried about any delays in payment causing me to incur bank charges when my DD's come off next week. I purposely have them set up to go out of the bank to suit when my fortnightly payments have been received to save me any worries. :(

Any help/reassurance than anyone can offer would be much appreciated. :)
when i changed banks they wrote to me on the letter it had my new banks acount and sort code with the words if the details above are incorrect please contact us other wise you need do nothing we will pay you incapacity into your new account from and the date hope this helps.

    BDC=Benefit Delivery Centre.
JCP 'deliver' IB/IS/ESA/JSA/SF/MA/BB from about 80 BDC's around the country-usually from your nearest large town/city. Not all BDC's deliver all the JCP benefits- some specialise- only MA or only BB for example.

    Quick update [of sorts].

Had a letter from Income Support this morning telling me of the change of circumstances (i.e. the AWOL IB payments) and what they'd pay me etc.

In the "How we work out what you'll be paid / need to live on" part it mentions my IB payment but this isn't included in what I'll be paid into my bank. Normall IS pay the full amount :(

At least I know my IB claim hasn't stopped (not that it had any reason to, but you never know), just now need to find out where the money is going, 'cause it sure as heck ain't in my bank account. *confused dot com*

Why do these things have to happen at the weekend when there's naff all you can do about it except stress? :D

On a brighter note, I spoke to the Clydesdale Bank this morning about my DD's coming off, I'm worried if this isn't sorted I'll end up with a load of charges, and they've arranged an overdraft if I need it. At least that's one less thing to worry over, but I'm sure I'll find something to replace it. :rotfl:

I'll keep you all posted next week when speak to the IB people. At least that way if [God forbid] it happens to anyone else, we might at least have some answers to offer. :p
  • Am on IB as well i never received it this week either i am hoping it is just a fault on the system, i never received ant letters or anything else informing me that i would not get my IB, but i know another person on it who gets paid IB the same day as me and got paid it which worries me a little, and i contacted my bank who said that as far as they can see it has been either delayed or not sent at all, just have to wait till mondat by the looks of it, but because there is 2 of us not payed it makes me think tha there is a fault in sending out the IB

Would it be that you are getting transferred from IB onto ESA maybe?

DX2 The move from IB to ESA hasn't started yet. The move is due to start late 2010>.
  • well they have not sent me anything out telling me that they are going to change it over to ESA. But this has happened to me once before about 2 years ago and they said that the computers were down and they asked me too come in and they would issue me a giro

I think I can finally shed some light on the situation. Don't worry, it doesn't involve fraud, although it does involve a degree of assumption (I know, I know, you should never assume...) on my part, so that might be worse. :D

Incapacity Benefit were under the impression that I receive my money in 4 weekly batches of £421.80, and have been doing so since the start of my claim (first I heard of it lol) - therefore, I wasn't due a payment until 3/3 (Wed). They couldn't understand why I was claiming a missing a payment of £210.90 on the 18/2.

Basically, from what I can gather, but neither IB or IS can confirm this as neither have access to each others records, is that my combined IS & IB payment has ceased and both will now be paid individually.

The reason for my lack of payment last week was [ironically] because I've been moved onto a "new" 2 weekly payment by IB, rather than my 'usual' 4 weekly. You know, the same fortnightly payments I've been used to, and gearing my DD's around for all these years. :p

My payment day will stay the same - a Wednesday- except it used to be a Wednesday for IS (+IB) and was changed to a Thursday (as noted in my first post). However, my payment date is due to change in the future to... You've guessed it, a Thursday! But, they assure me they'll notify me 4 weks before that'll happen. What, like the 4 weeks prior notice to changing my IS date in Oct that I'm still waiting on? :rotfl:

This seems to be confirmed by today's (well, yesterday's now I suppose) IB letter telling me of my first Direct payment to Clydesdale acc: xxxxxxxxxx (they're a wee bit late aren't they, I've been receiving payments there for years? lol)

    Here's were the assumption lies:

I'm guessing that, up until now IB have paid £420odds, on my behalf, to Income Support (or a holding account, who knows?) which has then been paid to me [icl IS] fortnightly. That's the only way I can understand them thinking I was paid 4 weekly, and now getting paid fortnightly.

Looks like this weekly/fortnightly/monthly/lets change the payment date to suit... isn't going as smoothly as they hoped. :(

If anyone's on IS & IB, I urge you to keep a check on your bank acc & any cryptic (see my OP) letters you receive from them in the post. It all makes sense when you work it out. :p

On another note, I have another DWP drama that [literally] dropped through my door today, I don't want to start a new thread on it so thought I'd tag it on here. Hopefully someone can help? :)

After opening the original 'infamous brown envelope' (anyone who has dealings with DWP "knows" those envelopes) I had the joy of another one; I did wonder if it was a duplicate or if it would contradict the first one etc etc (surely I'm not the only one who questions letters, when you know who they're from) before actually opening them? :o

Anyway. it was a letter addressed to someone with almost identical postal details to myself (so can't blame the postman) including postcode, flat number, building number etc - the only thing that was different was the second part of the street address (which, according to Google, doesn't exist).

It was a DLA letter, complete with Name [address makes no sense] and National Insurance Number. I'm pretty sure it's a genuine claim and her details have got mixed up somehow.

It stated: Dear Mrs xxxx xxxxx About Your Claim For DLA, we are sorry we cannot give a decision at the moment, that is because we have to contact your GP etc etc.

I'm pretty sure it's not a simple typo, as in building/flat number, because she isn't anyone in this block; there's only 2 other building in the street that have been converted into flats, the rest are still townhouses with no flat positions, and neither of the other converted flats have the 2/3 (top floor split into 3 flats) position, they're 2/1 and 2/2 (they were split into 2 flats).

I know I'm probably not making much sense, but it looks as though someone's DLA application has been sent to a totally random address i.e. mine, if you discount the second part of the address e.g say for example I live in Albert Square  (I might as well do, for all the dramas I've had with DWP in the past few weeks :D ) her letter says she lives in Albert Street .

Would it be ok for me to phone DLA and tell them of their mistake, admitting that I opened the post without thinking (explaining my circumstances) ? I'm not comfortable knowing about a strangers DLA application, and being in possesion of her NINO, nevermind that I know more about her application than she does.

ETA: I didn't see the name/address before I opened it, I was looking at the bit you open an envelope i.e. the back. lol Don't want anyone accusing me of deliberately opening it, I feel bad enough.

    Please Help

Don't panic, write on the envelope "not at this address" and put in back return to sender and the dla will deal with it. if you phone they'll more than likley just tell you to return it anyway

Mistakes do happen, I opened the envelope only that was address to an ex landlady, we had the same initials and the same bank, it was only when i double looked at the name and address when I relised my mistake, she went totally off her rocker with me, after that I was banned from collecting the mail!:o
