Hi
We are looking at the LG M2262D 22inch tv/monitor for our sons bedroom.
This lcd tv has a mpeg4 freeview tuner, the only explanation I can find is this -
The standard DTVformat broadcasting is being converted to MPEG4. The entire range of LG Monitor TVs features builtin MPEG4 based tuners, enabling perfect high resolution HDTV images without separate receivers. (MPEG4 Tuner applicable to M62D Series)
Is this saying that this can receive freeview HD when it arrives, or is this technical jargon that means not alot compared to the mpeg2 freeview tuners.

I was about to post a similar question having looked at a slightly different LG model. Did a search and found this unanswered post. Can anyone explain what benefits having an MPEG4 tuner gives?Awaiting a new sig0 -
Whether or not it will receive Freeview HD is dependant on it having a DVB-T2 tuner or not. MPEG4 is a more efficient way of processing signals and is NOT the sole indicator whether the box will tune Freeview HD or not and is already in use in France and Eire on SD broadcasts.
So to be Freeview HD compatible a device has to have both a DVB-T2 tuner and MPEG4 capability.
According to LG's website (which is not UK specific) it is capable of HD DTT in countries where DVB-T transmissions are used - unfortunately the UK will use DVB-T2 and these TVs will NOT tune Freeview HD0 -

Thanks for that although I'm not techie enough to understand the DVB-T/DVB-T2 issue. Do I take it then that the presence of an MPEG4 tuner is of no significance for a UK user?Awaiting a new sig0 -

Not at present of any benefit or detriment to UK users although it may be useful in a few years time if SD broadcasters start using it (it is more efficient in bandwidth allowing room for more channels).0
