I'm new to free food but have started collecting blackberries, tayberries (how lucky was that find!!), I've seen jostaberries (but other than jams I don't think I'd have much use for them so am leaving alone..) and have found what appears to be a fig tree that's not on anyone's property - need to suss that one out for sure though before I go a picking!
I've also found Hazelnuts but they're about 20 mins away in an area I rarely go to, so will probably forget to go back for those...April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -

To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,

recovering spendaholic - bilberries are wild blueberries. The bushes are usually mixed in with the heather on moorland. They make fantastic pies.
The best blackberrying places near us are old graveyards. Must be something to do with the fertilizer:) I would imagine with all this glorious sun they may well be ready for picking a bit earlier than usual this year. I will be checking them out from mid august.I like to live in cloud cuckoo land :hello:0 -
Can you get bilberries anywhere other than moors? Ours is closed because of fire risk.0

I got two packs of chicken tikka kebabs today for free. They were priced at 49p each, buy two for £3 (so 98p off two packs...) I'll not eat them but OH is a bit of a cheap meat dustbin...
I also got macaroni cheese for free at a cafe cos it was the last of the dish, and a bit dried up so they said I could just have it.
Other freebies - pancakes (reduced plus BOGOF - ended up they paid me to take them), bread, rolls, quiche, lamb and beef. Not all that often, but often enough to keep looking!
As for wild stuff - we have blackberries and gooseberries in the garden, and I get rhubarb from mum and dad. There isn't any amount of decent foraging around though, but the fishing is good and we occasionally get fish from neighbours.0
