Hi everyone,

I need to hire a van to collect my sofa from my brother's house in Barnet (25 miles away from me) and the cheapest option so far seems to be about £50. Any suggestions on how I can keep the costs down?

Baring in mind you have the cost of diesel (and your time) on top of the hire price, have you tried a local "man and van"?

Failing that - A few hire companies do 4 hour hire for around £25.

Thrifty will let you hire vans by the hour, something like 6 quid plus what ever fuel you use.

However for 24 hours its only 36 quid.

Local man and van might be £50 or there abouts.

Bare in mind the site charges a fee so you might get it cheaper outside the site. Look on gumtree/local paper for a man and van
