They want your address to canvas you for further donations at a later date. It is my principle never to give my address to a charity.
If you give to charities and are a taxpayer, the charity will benefit by an extra 28% of your donation if you sign up for Gift Aid. To benefit from that, the charity needs your name and address. If you don't want them to mail you in future, you should ask them not to.

An alternative but slightly less efficient method is to set up an account with the Charities Aid Foundation from which you can make anonymous donations from an account where the tax has already been reclaimed. It's slightly less efficient because the CAF make a small administration charge for running your account.

    Oh, I understand that.

Have you tried that? My experience is not good, particularly with the "exchanging" (selling?) of names and addresses. :(

I donated money to the charity now.

There is a gift aid statement which says: I agree to the statement above and would like my donation submitted for Gift Aid.

I didn't tick it and the payment went through. I hope my tax won't be affected, lol.
