ive got an original model i phone which im still happy to keep now my contract has expired with O2

what are my options now to reduce my bill -
Does any o2 pay as you go sim work in the iphone or are there specific ones for the i phone?

Will I be able to move networks and use another companys payg sim? would the phone need to be unlocked - would i loose any features?
