Camera Wizard Thing Not Working

Hi all I hope this is a simple fix ...I have a kodak Z1485 camera and when I needed to load pics on my pc all I had to do was to plug in the USB lead and a wizard thing would appear and ask me what I would like to do dowload download and delete etc etc...well for some reason whe I do this now it makes the noise to say I have plugged a USB device in but no camera wizard appears...Ive tried googling the answer but all I can understand is maybe something to do with autorun which ive checked and its working...and maybe something to do with real player well ive not got that installed...Then the other answers were to do with reg files etc etc which is a bit out of my league..can anyone help...Im running windows xp home SP3....Thanks in advance for any help

The first thing to check is whether the camera is being detected properly as a USB device. When you plug it in and look in My Computer, you should see the camera appear as a removable storage device.

If that's happening, you don't really need the Wizard - you can simply double-click on the storage device, navigate to the photos you want, select t hem and drag and drop them where you want them on the PC.

If it does not appear, you probably need to do some fixing of your USB device drivers on the PC.

Hi yes I just checked that Its not detecting anthing just my usual C drive etc etc in my computer

So when you turn it on, something pops up that says USB device detected but there is no extra drive in "My Computer"? Did you camera come with a disc? You may need to reinstall some software.

No nothing pops up at all ...All that does happen is that the noise to say a USB device has been plugged in happens.Thanks

Might seem a silly question, but is your camera on and are you sure there are photos to transfer, also check your memory card to see if it's in place?

Yes It's on and yes pics are on the camera...Like I said before it worked fine the last time I used it but for some reason the wizard thing just doesnt appear

Re boot comp and connect up camera, switch camera on, go to my computer and tell us what you see please

Buy a memory card reader, that is assuming your computer does not have one built in.

Take card out of camera, push in to card reader, sorted.:)

on reboot i see in my computer Local Disk C...backup D...DVD RW Drive E...

Yes I guess I could buy a card reader but I was trying to avoid spending money and also I would love to know why It stopped working
