Hi Everyone,
Just had a phone call from AOL (bb provider) asking me to sign up for 18 months and they will offer me 3 months free - normally £17.99 p/m
I've also got TT for line rental and calls @ various monthly amounts but averages @ £24 odd p/m sometimes more if we have to call non-free numbers.
finally I've got Sky TV basic with Sky sports 1 @ £30.00 p/m.
So I'm thinking of switching the whole lot to Sky to get a bundled deal.
My questions are:
1. Is this simple to do, use the BB @ home for work so can't have any outage ?
2. Do you think I'd be able to push Sky into giving a free HD box ?
3. Any idea what the monthly cost would be with Sky ?
Thanks

Sky do not offer a business broadband service, its for domestic use only.
However, the costs are: Base £5/month, Everyday £10/month, Unlimited £15/month.
These are for LLU exchanges, if you take Sky talk there is a £5/month discount.
Line rental is extra in all cases.
I thought Sky was giving away HD boxes atm.
PS There may be trouble ahead, if you have Talk Talk line rental you may have to move back to BT before you can move to Sky. This applies if TT have unbundled your telephony. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
Doesn't need to be a business account, a normal one will do.
Re the HD boxes, I'm not sure if you have to pay for installation and upgrade the package to get a free box ? I just wondered if the offer of taking all services from them may be enough for free installation too, staying with the package I've got.
Re there may be trouble ahead (I've got that song in my head now :rotfl:) how would I be able to find out if TT have unbundled the telephony. I really don't want to have to ring them if I can help it as getting through is a nightmare.0 -
You can get a free Sky HD+ box at the moment if you upgrade to Sky HD whether you're an existing customer or not - but that's all you need to do to get it (i.e. you don't have to take out broadband / phone - just upgrade to Sky HD).
If you order Sky broadband and the Sky Free Talk talk plan (as this saves you £5 a month on the broadband) - Sky will tell you if they are unable to move you over due to your telephone line being with TalkTalk.
If they can't move you over, then you'll need to get reconnected to BT first - which costs £125. There are sometimes BT line installation offers - but these require you to sign up to BT broadband and phone.
You'll have to take out a 12-month contract on the BT line rental - but this is ok as you only need to take a free Sky call plan (not Sky line rental) to get the £5 off Sky broadband discount.0 -
Somewhere on the Sky site is a place where you can put your phone number, hopefully that will identify whether its a BT or Talk Talk Line.

or was it this one?

Tried the 1st link and this is what I got:
Currently we estimate that the maximum download speed your line could support is between 1.5Mb and 2Mb.
The number you have provided indicates that you are outside the Sky Broadband network and so are not eligible for our Base, Everyday and Unlimited products. However, you can still get a great broadband service with Sky Broadband Connect, which offers up to 8Mb download speeds and 40GB monthly usage allowance.
Outside the Sky Broadband network what does that mean ?
Currently I'm getting about 2.5mb speed and there's no chance of that changing anytime soon, but wouldn't want any slower that's for sure.0 -
Outside the Sky broadband network means that they don't have their equipment at your exchange.
All they can offer therefore is a rebranded BT (Sky connect) product which will cost as much as your current deal with AOL.
Check if you have any LLU operators at your exchange.

Oh well that's that then as there's no LLU @ my exchange
better take up aol's 3 free months offer to stay on for another 18 months then.
Re the Sky HD, looking at the link, it says HD box is free, with free installation if you take the HD pack @ £10.00 pm. The link to the HD pack channels shows skysports 1 as being one of them. I already pay £9.00 extra per month for this anyway, or do you still have to pay that PLUS the £10.00 pm for HD ?0 -
..Fraid so, the £10 for HD is in addition to any other packs you may already have. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
