They have a job... with an income!
There are others out there that would kill for the job that they have.
The rest of us work for a living, dont get increases and get more and more work thrown at us on a daily basis. Do we strike because we dont like it? NO!!!! The majority of people accept that in this current market people have to knuckle down and be grateful for their jobs and income.
And I stick by my original post... What about the rest of us that have SAVED and WORKED HARD to pay for a holiday!?!?! "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -

Then join a union and put your violin away, I'm filling up! You sound like Boxer from 'Animal Farm'.RIP independent MSE.

In fact, Guardian reports already suggest that BA has moved somewhatLegal team on standby0

On the contrary - BA rejected their offer. So now the union can strike, have it broken then return to work on whatever terms BA want. Tell me, how do you forsee any victory for the union in this situation?
You just can't help yourself, can you? You pick up a snippit from wheresoever and extrapolate not only the next step, but also the outcome to this dispute. Any chance of letting us know the winning numbers for this week's Euromillions while you're at it?RIP independent MSE.

I am guessing that you live in a bubble. Have you not noticed that virtually no one wants to strike? Even those who voted for a strike are now highly critical of Unite's handling of this situation.
Some quotes from BA CC today:Before I got into flying, I used to work on a chicken farm. Today reminds me of the bit where we used to lop the head off the chicken and it would run round and round before finally keeling over & expiring. Sound familiar? The BASSA "leadership" should hang their heads in SHAME..... If only they had spent the same ammount of time working on a deal to save the oncoming oblivion as they did on their little deal to shaft everyone but their good selves then BA would not be now asking BASSA to "bring it on".
What a bunch of muppetts

I dont need to join a Union, thanks Will.
I am wise enough to know what is best for me and my family, and that is keeping my job and helping the company that provides my salary stay afloat. "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -
Another classic quote:The UNITE leadership have agreed to a press conference tomorrowThey have agreed on something. Huzzah.:TGone ... or have I?0

I live in hope: of a negotiated settlement. As to no-one wanting a strike you should perhaps read and reread the comments of those who overtly do seem to want to provoke one to break UNITE! If you are wondering about who they are, look no further than those you have thanked, again and again.
(I am actually supposed to be travelling BA at the end of next week. Still, TAP has a better wine list.;) Oh, sorry, nobody has announced any strike.)RIP independent MSE.

Noon tomorrow they will. Rather than just hurle abuse, can you address the point raised earlier? How can you forsee an avenue of victory for the union at this point?Legal team on standby0

I still can't get my head around striking. Earlier this week i decided i wanted to nip over to Amsterdam with my youngest on Monday, when looking for flights i didn't even consider BA (have booked with KLM) the point im making is i know i won't be alone and i just wonder how many other people have not even entertained BA during this period and what the effect on booking for the future will be.
When BA are already losing money on a huge scale, how can a union think that any sort of industrial action including threats to strike is the way to do things. You see, if BA goes bust the Unite board won't lose their jobs, the BA members will though.
You have to wonder if Unite are handling this well at all.
Personally i think it has become a battle of Unite v BA, no longer are they representative of their members they are trying to save face when the ship they are on is sinking fast - and they made the hole. The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0
